    Ativan

I took ativan for aniexty and it really knots you out.  So be careful.  I am on my last chemo for Oct then I am having surgery in November. Radical L.B. I get very annious after chemo by doctor prescided Lorizam.  I just took one last night as I had leg pain, dry mouth and everything else that goes along with chemo.  Felt better in the morning.  The annious of everything is gone.  I am feeling much better today.  Was able to go grocery shopping and my mind was not cloudy.

I think ativan might be ok but I would check with your doctor.  Good luck I will be thinking about you and praying for your fast recovery.

I have taken it for over 3 years

I started taking it for nausea for the chemo. Now I still take it at night. I take Lorazapan which is the generic for Ativan. I function just fine with it. I dont always take it, and that is not an issue either. I take the smallest dose and sometimes only half of one. I have had no issues at all wih it. Carol

By the way, welcome to this site. Great group of men and women here.

    Ativan

I take ativan at bedtime, it is really helped me release  some of the days anxieties and get to sleep.  Good luck.  And as someone who came to CSN later in the cancer journey, than I should have, welcome.  You will find it a great resources.  A place to vent, laugh and communicate with others who have read or are reading the 'cancer patient, survivors' handbook.  Which we all are writing our own version of.

    Ativan

I was prescribed Ativan by my primary care doc because of difficulty sleeping, staying asleep, and nightmares in the three weeks before my double mastectomy. Before I could get it filled, another of my docs (neurologist) said not to take it and prescribed a low dose of Ambien instead. He said he had seen too many cases of addiction to Ativan even in relatively short duration like mine. The Ambien worked perfectly. He said not to take it more than 3 times a week. It was such a low dose that I never had some of the side effects you hear of with Ambien. I woke refreshed and nightmare free. Everybody is different, of course, but it worked for me.
