Someone PLEASE help....severe radiation burns vaginal area

If there is anyone out there who can give me some advice I would appreciateit so much. I have urethral and vulvar cancer. I have had chemo and 6 weeks of radiation treatments. The last part of my radiation were "boosts" (11 in a row). I did my last one 5 days ago, and I am in so much pain all I can do is lay here and cry. NOTHING is helping. I have tried various ointments, from silvadine, to calmoseptine, to lidocane. Am taking powerful pain meds (fentanyl patch and oxycodone)....I have resorted to lying here putting cold rags on the area and I am in agony. The lst time I had burns like this, I wound up in the hospital with low white blood count and had to have medicine to produce white blood cells (forgot thename ...maybe something like nupogen?) But the docs said that mainly it was from the chemo, not the radiation (I was having both simultaniously then. This time, I had no chemo, just radiation. The last day of rad, the doc looked at me and said it looked great.....it's been 5 daysand it is so hot down there, even my buttocks and thighs are blistering hot. I have hard little blisters all over the area which are so painful....severe burning and itching. I can't stand it anymore.....

    Vaginal burning

Appy copious amounts of vaseline intensive care both inside and out. It helped my wife tremendously.

    Painful radiation burns

I hear your pain. I had to be hospitalized as I could not bear to use the toilet and it would put my pain to a 10/10 where I almost passed out.

The nurses were so kind. The wound care team at Chandler Hospital were terrific. They devised a system for me. They would apply a coating of Vasolex(Rx needed) then put a dressing of Silver Antimibrobial wound dressing (MAXORB Extra AG) on top of the Vasolex. Then an abdominal pad and held together with a net underwear. I took lots of baths with Aveeno oatmeal too. At least 3-4 per day.

I had a home care nurse come for a week at my home to do the dressings and my sweet husband did some in the evenings. After about 2 weeks post radiation (had 26 plus brachytherapy) I switched to Silver Sulfadiazine(this is a medicaiton used on burn pts, which we are with our radiation burns) I put this on and covered the area with the abd. pad and secured with uncerwear.

I make it sound so easy but none of this is easy. You take one day at a time, laugh, pray, cry,  love and it WILL heal. I promise you. Good luck and my heart goes out to you. Hang in there. Sunnier days ahead.

    Sincerely
