fever and lung pain when breathing, as side effects of chemo
Dears, following the second Folfiri treatment (there were 6 Folfox sessions, but due to new mets in the liver, the chemo was switched from Folfox to Folfiri), my mom is having fever and pain in her lung when breathing. She hasn't had any fever until now. Nor has she had any issues with her lung. Has anyone had similar side effects following Folfiri?
We're supposed to have a CT scan after the third Folfiri treatment, which is coming up next week. But this fever and lung pain are scaring me. Should we try to get the CT scan earlier? This would mean scanning her after 2 treatments of Folfiri (instead of 3). Perhaps it would be too early for the liver mets to show any response. Do you have any advice?

call your doctor
I was told to come in right away if I developed a fever. If you haven't already, give you doctor or nurse a call. Chemo can make you more susceptible to illensses and infections, so it should get checked out quickly.

Thank you ladies! We did
Thank you ladies! We did call, met a doc (not our onc but another one) and got a blood test done. The hospital hasn't called back, which I take is a sign that she doesn't have an infection or so. When I hear her lungs hurt when taking deep breaths, naturally, the first terrifying thought is "freaking mets ... maybe lungs now?" Originally it was a big cancer in the colon (stage 3c). As a precaution, the surgeon also removed small parts of the neighboring organs (liver and the abodminal wall). But the liver margins were not great. After 6 treatments of Folfox, the first CT scan revealed mets in the liver (one large and one small). Not immediately operable. Change of chemo from Folfox to Folfiri. Another scan planned after 3 sessions of Folfiri. We've completed 2 so far. I pray and hope that Folfiri is working.
