Had a CT scan with contrast today
Had my first CT scan in July at 3 months and shrinkage was shown. Had a CT scan today at 5 months but won't know the results until tomorrow at 2pm (CST). You would think that in this day and age that they would be able to make the contrast somewhat tolerable to drink. Man I hate that stuff. It tastes like a pool cover or liner smells.
I'll update tomorrow after I hear the results. I just wanted to complain about the contrast

Oh that wonderful drink. Its been a few years since I had to drink that flavored goo. One of the ways the Iceman used to keep up his spirits when they give you the bottle is to ask with a straight face whether you can have an extra bottle beacause the last time you had the goo they allowed you to have an extra bottle.

Great story iceman - there'll be a few of us wishing we'd come up with that one. Goes nicely with your doc signing you off as free of any pain - so far as he was concerned!!

I don't think you'll find
I don't think you'll find blkjak wanting another bottle. He says its pretty nasty! We have been amused that they keep that stuff in a locked refrigerator at the hospital. Who would steal that?!?

Yes...mom2two said:Did they give you the IV
Did they give you the IV contrast? Where is the mass at? I will be praying it shrinks more! Are you taking chemo?
I had to take the contrast medicine and then they also gave me IV contrast during the scan. I have a very small tumor on the left kidney. There is a spot in one of my lungs and on my liver. Mrs. BLKJAK can chime in on the details as I tend to forget them. I am currently taking Votrient and have been for 5 months. So far, so good.

How big is the tumor on the left kidney? I keep hearing on this forum that you are 100% cured if tumor less than 4 cm? I am so sorry you are going through this!

The latest scans show that all the lymph nodes have grown by 1mm. The tumor on the kidney seems to have changed shape, but has grown by 1mm on two of the measurements. So we have a call into the Oncology Team at UW-Madison to see what they want to do. Perhaps stay on Votrient for two more months and see what happens or most likely to switch to a different drug. Not the worst news overall and there are still more drugs to try.
