I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma ( 1 x 1.5 cm node) in my left lower lobe on Jan 31,2013.  On Feb. 26th I had the lower lobe removed.  The pain was bad the first month or two after the surgery then quieted down a little with the incicsion site and my left breast supersensitive in places and numb in others.  I heard about Neurontin (given to shingles patients for nerve pain) and asked my family physician about it and got an RX.  Started just the other day and can already see a difference.  Not having those lightning/shooting pains that the nerve regeneration causes.  I am also sleeping better at night, which I heard can be attirbuted to the Neruontin.

I had my first 6-month CT/checkup yesterday and was told to return in 6 months!!  Cancer free x 6 months and counting.

Great news for your follow up scan! Laughing  Thank you for sharing about the neurontin.  I had vats for right lower lobe removal on 9-23-10, and so far so good.

I wish you continued great news. Lori

Thank you Z.  I was scared to death to go to that FIRST check-up.  I heard a saying:  If you survive hearing the diagnosis, you are a survivor.

The incision was about 7 inches long but the worst part was the chest tube.  I went home after 6 days with the chest tube.  That evening my lung partially collapsed and I was readmitted for 4 more days when the tube was removed.  No problems since.
