5 year breast cancer survivor with 3 enlarged underarm lymph nodes

I saw my oncologist Friday and he sent me for a STAT breast ultrasound.  The  results indicate  the underarm tissue has changed, and  the 3 lymph nodes

are enlarged and palpable, however are benign.  Radiologist recommends repeating test  in 4-6 months.

It seems like they should be biopsied.  ????    Any thoughts?          ( Double mastectomy 5 years ago.)

thanks,

Carol

    Yes

    Lizzie,

I do not know a lot about breast cancer, but several writers here are long-term survivors. For what it is worth, breast cancer that has gone into lymph nodes is not lymphoma, but breast cancer in the lymphatic system.  Of course, most cancers can morph into some other cancer years later.  And, anyone can develop lymphoma, including people who have had, or have, other cancers.

    I know: clear as mud.

My intuition would be to get a biopsy, but some of the lady experts here are better informed at responding to the specifics of your current situation.

    Bless your results,

    max

    Lymphoma

    Lizzie,

I have to agree with Max. When I first heard Lymphoma I was scared to death. I kept thinking I had cancer that had reached my lymph nodes. In reality it is cancer that starts in the lymph nodes. It is classified a little different that most cancers. The stages of 1-4 just tells what areas of the body is in. No matter where it goes it will be lymphoma cancer cells. Other cancers that start somewhere else in the body and go to the lymph nodes will be be classified as the cancer from where it originated. Hope I did not muddle things up more for you. Have it biopsied as soon as possible. John
