Scans Tomorrow and Scared to Death

Welcome to the H&N reality check or as it is  known “Scanxiey”.

Rob got the full meal deal and along with that comes a likely NED.  If this is the first scan it may show some hot spots which are par for the course and not cancer.

If I had known about the scan earlier I would have asked God to watch over Rob when I was saying Sunday grace.

Prayers all around for clean scans!

I will certainly not tell you not to be scared to death about the scan.  My brother's first scan is not until November and I get totally freaked everytime I think about it.  Having said that, I have read enough on this site to say that the liklihood of anythilng being remiss at this time is pretty slim.  Try to concentrate on that and pray, pray, pray.  Adding you and your husband to my prayers today.

my pocket....you, too John....you two can swap fishing tales .  I surely know the feeling you're having, Sandy....I was hanging by my claws from the ceiling for a week this last time....but I know the scans are going to be great and you'll be dancing in the kitchen in just a couple of days.

Everything went well. Did not get NED or Cancer Free yet.

He had 2 very small nodes light up. So small that they can not even do any guided sonograms to get to them for FNA. To small to even think of cuttingout.

Going back to tumor board on Monday next week but they think it will still resolve itself and antoher PET in Dec. 

They figure his cancer is probably gone because they say if he still had cancer he would not be doing this good. He would still just be lingering.

John prayer for you NED tomorrow and we plan to be there in 3 months.

sandy, i'm sorry that you didn't get NED news.  i'm glad the hot spots r so small and i will b praying that they r nothing more than left over radiation.  pls continue to keep us posted and we will continue 2 keep u and rob n our prayers!!

I feel really bad you could not get a definitive all clear ala NED. Be happy this case goes for review at tumor board as it will get a lot more opionions on how to evaluate and plan forward. Much better than not having it looked at so much.

Im' sure they are false positives. This happens often when the first post tx PET/CT is done too closely. Allowing 12 weeks is considered safe for low false positives. I did right at 12 weeks post.

tho I'm sure they are hot only from treatment....it is much more fun to get a full fledged NED.  I can't tell you tho, how many people have passed through here with tiny lights at the first scan that are gone at the second scan...just that there have been a few of them.  I'm quite certain tho, that had they been very concerned about them, he'd be getting another scan sooner than Dec.
