My mom -uterine serous

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

My mom had surgery today, she has uterine serous with omental and umbilical spread. He was able to get diseased tissue out, ofcourse this ups her stage to 4. Has anyone seen a good outcome with this type of scenario, chemo starts in 2 wks..

    Yesterday marked the third anniversary of the day I entered my ob-gyn's office for a routine yearly exam and shortly thereafter was diagnosed with stage 4B UPSC. I wish to give

    you the hope that nobody offered me then. Though the cancer had spread to almost 40 lymph nodes,  I am alive, well and still in remission today. I am on a clinical trial in Sloan and

    on maintenance with Avastin. We just don't know where this journey will lead us. New drugs and therapies emerge daily. Have hope and don't give up..

    My doctors at Sloan

    My surgeon and attending doctor is Dr. Richard Barakat. My medical oncologist is Dr William Tew. I have the BRCA 2 mutation which  makes one more sensitive to some  of the treatment drugs like avastin and the platinum drugs.

    I had stage IVb UPSC three

    I had stage IVb UPSC three and a quarter years ago, and I have had no evidence of disease since my surgery in May, 2010.  Mine started in the uterus and went to both ovaries, the omentum, and the small intestine.  No lymph nodes were involved. I had surgery and 6 rounds of carbo/taxol and have been in remiission ever since. I later had a second surgery for an incisional hernia.  I'd had quite a big surgery the first time around as gallstones had also been found, so in addition to everything else they had removed my gallbladder and appendix.  I was in the hospital for 6 days following the first surgery and had 2 transfusions following that and another one during chemo.  I thought it would be nice for you to know that there is hope for a complete recovery.

    Dx in 2002 with stage 3c UPSC, I also used the Barakat/Tew team at MSKCC.  I have been cancer free for over 10 years!! There is ALWAYS hope!!

    Just found out

    I'm 60 and went for checkup for post menopausal abnormal bleeding. Next I had a D&C where the results showed entrometrial cancer. Next came surgery, full hysterectomy with ovaries, tube and lymph.  Surgery went well' but dr came in the next morning( yesterday) to tell me I have uterine serous cancer! Wow that's scared., so he will go over ful pathology report with me on 24th, but looks like chemo in my future..

    I know you are feeling pretty stunned right now.  I had been led to expect that I would just need surgery for early " garden variety" endometrial cancer only to have it turn out to be USPC and I would need chemo and brachytherapy.  Tonight as my husband and I walked around at a celebration our town holds every year, I commented how hard it is to believe that a year ago I was fatigued and hairless.  I am now 13 months out of treatment with lots of energy and hair.  You will get through this and we promise to help you every step of the way.
