Just had to share; when I lived on the in PA I was an ATA (amateur trap association) memeber, I shot trap/clay targets competively all over the east coast and at the Grand American in Ohio several times. Since moving to AZ not so much, then my dance with the Big C kinda put a hault to such things. Well since getting ,my port out a 2 months ago , I renewed my  ATAmemebership , and joind a fall trap league at he the Ben Avery Shooting Range , the first shoot is tonight..and to say I'm amped to start to do something I truly enjoy is putting it mildly...so my shotguns ( yes I have 2) are all cleaned and oiled, my shooting stuff ready, the only addition is that while my shooting vest is padded on the right side, I'm going to add some extra gauze padding over the incision site from where the port was removed. Can't wait to say "PULL".

    funny

That was what I was thinking. when I had mine put in a discussion with the doctor revealed the need to not put to much physical activity near the port so I had mine put in my left side being right handled so I can still swing whatever or maybe even shoot a gun :-)

I believe my target is a year out to get the port out, if that makes sense for most.

    Did the same thing (different

Did the same thing (different shooting sport-much more athletic/action oriented) at about one month out of treatment.  I did as well as expected (poorly), but I could see I still had some of "it."  If that happens don't get discouraged, our bodies have been through hell and back.  Now about 18 weeks post treatment, and with a month of practice, I am not where I was, but I am getting there.  Losing nearly 40 pounds does not hurt (but losing all the muscle did).  I enjoy it more now then before getting sick.

    Me Too...

Geesh, sounds almost like me.  I was very active in National Skeet Shooting and then, well you know.  Just started shooting again a few weeks ago but even with lots of padding had to go all the way down to 410.  Not the port (mine is on the left also but shoot right) but my muscle loss made any other gauge hurt like, well you know that too :)

So Linda, lets us know how you did.  Man it's nice to get back to things that were fun before all this crap.

Best of luck in your return match! I have been to Ben Avery several times with Ron to sight in the guns. I am definitely not Annie Oakley. My specialty was shooting the legs off the target stands unintentionally. We went to a couple of the Black Powder Meets there that were fun.

    Hope all goes well.
