Favor to ask - clinical trials

Hey Kids,

Got a favor to ask for those more internet savy (or with a better memory).  A while back someone on this site posted some links that gave a pretty comprehensive list of clincial trials or some sites to check for them.  I've searched for it, to no avail.  I also did a general search on the web and found some info, but if memory serves me correctly, the sites listed here were very informative.

(FYI - not for me.  Doing some research for my sis, who's just got some bad news. But she's a fighter and asked me to do some research for her.)

My best to everyone!
Thanks

Greg

So very sorry to hear of your sister's bad news. I don't know the site and don't know the type of cancer your sister has but we found the clinical trial for my cousin here at St Johns (Mercy). He had mets melanoma to liver and lung 8 years ago. He did the trial for Interlueken II and has been cancer free 8 years. I'm pretty sure Mike started his clinical trial here in STL before moving to TX, maybe he can offer some local advice. I know that dealing with bad news for loved ones is often more difficult than dealing with our own challenges. Your sister will be in my prayers.

Thanks for the replies!  Sister had uterine cancer - dx'd in '06.  Mets to lungs in '12 and now recently mets to brain.  Bad thing with the brain mets - chemo is not effective and it is in multiple locations in brain so operating and/or rads are out also.  Not a lot of options, but she has a good positive attitude and is willing to look "outside the box" for some help.  So I am just doing some legwork for her.

    Thanks again for the responses!

Positive thoughts and good mojo to all my friends here!

Curious if your sister has had a biopsy or if they are drawing the assumption that it is mets. My brother was told at Mo Bapt. that his kidney cancer was mets to lung and therefore stage 4. He went to Mayo and first thing they did was biopsy. Turned out he had 2 primaries both stage 1. When I went to Mayo, the first thing they asked me was for my biopsy reports for the recurrance. I told them they didn't do one. Mayo felt that even if it walked like a duck, talked like a duck and it most likely was a duck, they weren't going to treat based on an assumption. Something to consider asking her doctor, if she hasn't had one.

    Continued prayers......

    Candi,

Thanks, good point.  Mets to lungs was a year ago and I'm 99% sure they did a biopsy on that (I'll check).  No biopsy on the recent brain mets (don't even know if they can do one there??).  Going to her doctor's appointment with her next week, so I've got my list of questions ready.

    Thanks again

    Hey Bro

I know a number of people who have given positive reviews to the clinical trials finder at www.livestrong.org  .  There is a link at the bottom of the homepage.
