Almost Exactly One Year
I found this site almost exactly one year ago and I can't really put into words how thankful I am. You folks have seen me though the panic and the pain with your insightful, often humorous (yes Matt, I'm talking about you) advice and support. Most of the remedies that actually made treatment bearable didn't come from from my team, but from all of you. So to all of you, John, Phran, Matt, Rick and all the countless others that spend their time soothing, conjouling and acting as emotional backstops, thank you. You really are appreciated.
Joe

I Second that Emotion!
I've been around much longer, but I completely agree with your statement. I did not find the site until after I finished my first battle. I could help, but mostly have been helped and encouraged by many that are active some that do not come on regularly and some that have unfortunately passed. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.
(BTW, I am coming out of my Glum Gus, Debbie Downer mood! Ready to fight, fight, fight!)

I agree, great folks
Joe,
Sometimes you just need a good cajoling. I walked through the same door as you did. Different H&N angels, but the same fears and questions. Each time I participate, it is a little thank you. I’ve learned a lot from the “old timers” and the “newbies” alike. Heck, after the (frightful) initiation into this club I feel like one of you.
Take care Joe,
Matt

Welcome
Hi Joe,
Thanks for dropping in on the happy milestone! So many arrive, get treated, and as recovery progresses they gradually return to their busy lives, leaving less time to visit and actively participate here.
Very glad to hear all is well. Thanks again, don

I have said it in the past
many times. This is the best, the most informative, upbeat, "can-do", go get'em, and yes humorous group of folks a person facing HCN can find on the internet.
KT....we're holding your hand as you fight on....

Thanks Joe...
I too actually found this site a few months post Tx...
But still going through a few rough spells as recovery does take time as we all know.
I found a home..., this is the only site I have continued with and poured myself into..., sometimes more than a few have wanted, LOL.
I have found out a lot here from others, and have passed that on along with my own experiences, giving back.
Giving back to not just the newbies, but my way of giving back to the cancer community in general... For whatever reason, I have had a need personally to share and give back..., paying it forward.
Best,
John

Dude,
You have given so much here that you've paid forward for half the bus! As you say, it is elusive to why some go and some stay... and stay ... and stay ... LOL
But there are thousands of have benefited from your steadfast contribution to the community here. So - a BIG THANKS! don

A year ago here too....
It's been a year ago in August that I came to this site as well. I don't know what I would have done without all these people. I hope to be able to give back as much as I can with the time I have.
Happy to be celebrating the year!

Let's go fishing. Forget the flounders or salmon, we'll go after sturgeon or get that pizza from the place in Tomales Bay, home of the GREAT WHITE! Bring your big tackle.

Matt,
Thanks for the proper spelling of "cajoling". Seems that since I'm missing a "u" in my last name, I add them whenever I can
Joe Cortney (no u).

I have only been coming here
I have only been coming here a few months and I already feel the same way. The other day I visited the CSN breast cancer board (because of a cancer scare with another sibling) only to come upon an uprising of sorts. Woman were apparently fighting and leaving the board to make a whole new group. I said to myself, "Darn! I'm glad it is not like this with "my" peeps!" Thanks to all of you. I dare say I have become very fond of you and have been amazed many times reading some of your responses. Are there by chance any medical people among the regulars? A few of you sure sound informed enough to be!

Ya got that right
Joe.........I told John when we met that I signed up on here just prior to starting radiation but never really got involved until well after it was over which is sometyhing I regret. Other than when I was at the hospital in the company of others going through treatment I always felt alone facing the fear of the unknown. I have a demanding job, but after I retire I will be doing alot of volunteer work helping to kick some cancer ****.
I see your like me, I look forward to reading Matt's posts.
Enjoy the day
Jeff
