Total Hysterectomy w/ Ovaries and Tubes Removed

I had a total hysterectomy with my ovaries and tubes removed in November of 2011.

I noticed about a 2-4 weeks thesevere hot flashes started. I had been having premenopasual hot flashes since my mid 30s.0-

In the winter of 2012, I noticed that the natural curl left my hair (or it is just the terrible rotten job that my stylist has been doing cuz I still see little curls here and there) and that my skin was extremely dry. Much drier than before.

Now in 2013, I noticed that I am losing the the skin elascticity.

I noticed that when I hit my late 30s/ very early 40s the weight didn't come off as easy.

I tried eating more fruits and vegetables instead of chips and sweets and it worked. I used to think they were too expensive but actually I find if I eat more of them, I am more full.

Instead of ice cream or sweets, I make fruit smoothies with banana, greek yogurt (I like peach), ice cubes, then another fruit either peaches or a type of berry. I am not into juicing. I just like the smoothie. I have a freezeable hot pink large glass with a straw that I drink them out of.

I was also walking with my dog quite a bit until I early June when my dog and I were both healing from knee injuries so they were short, then of course I had so many coughing and breathing probs, and now I am still recovering from the thoractomy. Even in the beginning at home post surgery, Brian would let me hold his arm and we would just walk around the yard.

I figure any walking is good walking. It is better than sitting on my rearend.

Even with all these obstacles, I have still managed to lose 11 lbs since June. And that is with very limited activity since since July 31st.

Oh, and I talked with my doctor. I do not eliminate all sweets and yummies. I just make sure that if I want a sweet, it is a smaller portion (buy one baked good from the bakery instead of 6 in the bigger pack) and I don't drink lets say a sugared Powerade that day, I make sure I drink the sugar free one. If I plan on eating out (which we rarely do), but sometimes a Friday Fish Fry (so popular in WI) sounds good. So that week, I know my fat intake will be larger on Friday so I won't eat a sweet or any kind of chips.

If I am craving the chips, I trick my body by eating a crunchy vege, usually a cuke or whatever vege sounds good.

I try to eat a salad everyday and use lettuce and spinach with lots of veges and always use reduced fat dressing. It is a good way to fill you up and get some good veges in there. I thougth I would get sick of a salad everyday, but every once in awhile I add these crazy salad chinese wanton things and boiled egg.

Of course, sometimes I stray a little more, sometimes I am spot on and perfect. But that's life.

Glad to hear that you have

Glad to hear that you have made it through the years of Tamoxifen!! I now it was not easy for you (like it is easy for anyone, really, right?).

It will be interesting to hear you let us know what the new body sans Tamoxifen is like.
