Bummer

I am fairly electronically challenged, as well.  I know how to do what I do, but that's it. 

My experience has been that it could be something quite simple, like the power supply issue.

If it's not, unfortunately, 5 years is very old for a computer.  That's probably not what you wanted to hear, but the technology is moving so rapidly, 5 years is very old for a computer.

It's a Dell.  I hope I can get back on it because I have writings and favorites and games I would like to retrieve or make lists of.  This happened before and I lost a lot of stuff.  Yes I've heard of back up but I said I am so very challenged.  To me it is rocket science.I think it is just a cord.  I will ask my son to help me decide what to do.  I do not feel like dealing with anything these days.

I just started getting back into my humble little life last week.  I had a facial, mani/pedi, re-joined WW and went to yoga.  I also went to Walmart for the first time since treatment started.  I still don't feel a lot of enthusiasm.  Hope that changes soon.

5-year-old Dell is not worth repairing. If it's a laptop, with adapter plugged in try taking battery out and putting it back in, sometimes it helps. If not, you can get a new laptop with Windows8 at BestBuy for $300. Extended warranty is a rip-off. Bring your old one with you and for another $30 GeekSquad will copy your old hard drive onto the new laptop (favorites, files, games, emails and everything else). It makes sense to invest another $70 in the external zip drive for regular back-up, but most people don't do that.

Facial, mani/pedi, Weigh Watchers and yoga sound wonderful. Even Walmart could be a decent place if not for the http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/

Thanks for all the info Alexandra.  I am going to discuss all this with my son.  But what if it is just a power cord?  I haven't had any problems before this.  You'll probably think I'm a real dope but I am afraid of a laptop.  My son wanted me to get one last time but it was out of my comfort zone.  I don't want any changes right now.  I am in such a weird space.  These last couple of months have shaken me to the core.  I just want status quo but I know that doesn't always happen in real life.

So glad you've managed to communicate with us.  Luckily the other ladies here have offered some good suggestions.  I feel like I'm like you in more ways than one.  At work, I call myself "Low Tech Kelly" because I am so behind everyone else with technology.  I don't do well with change either and I can truly understand your need for some stability, especially right now.  However, believe it or not I actually got a laptop earlier this year, on my brother's advice, when our PC went kaput one too many times from viruses.  I've learned how convenient it is to be able to use it in any room.  Your "humble little life" sounds wonderful.  On Saturday, my husband and I drove into town to get fresh vegetables and flowers at a farmer's market and then went out to lunch at our favorite Japanese restaurant.  I feel like I accomplished a lot that day!
