Cedar Point Roll Call of interested survivors and family.
Over the past several months a number of us have expressed thoughts about meeting in Cedar Point next Summer and for those of us who are up to it try a roller coaster of two like the Geimini(not recommended unless a year past surgery). What are your thouths about doing this mid week towards the end of next August?

Where is Cedar Point? Is the Gemini a dual coaster that the sides come real close to each other? Like the dueling dragons at Universal Studios in FL? If so, I'm game, depending on where it is.
Cedar Point is about 60 miles West of Cleveland on Lake Erie.
It is known as the Roller Coaster Capital of the World, but the rides are as diverse as a Disney Park. They advertise discounted rates for groups of 15 or more and I am sure we coukd push the envelope on getting good discounts depending on how large a group we have.
Plenty of rides for the children and grandchildren too.

Count Phoenix Rising in!
I grew up in Michigan and made yearly trips to Cedar Point from the 6th through 12th grades. I've been at least 5 more times since then and have been looking for a good excuse to make the pilgramage from Atlanta. I hear there's a new coaster that is one of the tallest and fastest in the world??? I won't be riding that, but I thought I'd throw it out there as an FYI.

Count me out!!!garym said:With bells on...
Well maybe not, but you know I'll be there!
Wild horses couldn't drag me anywhere near any sort of ride, let alone the scariest ones! The very idea makes me shudder - I'd rather have cancer! (Oops, forgot - I've got that already, and I guess cancer can be a fairly scary ride too and one you don't have to pay to take!).

Nope, admission is free...but once you're on its expensive as hell!!!
FYI...they have kiddie rides at Cedar Point too, and I'm sure we could find a golf course in the area

And I bet the kiddies rides are even scarier - bound to be too much for me anyway! But a local golf course - now you're talking! I suppose there might also be somewhere to row - that would also be a welcome alternative attraction.

In addition to some great golfing, there are Kiddie Rides, Shooting Ranges, Fishing and Roller coasters, all in a very small area! I'll bet we'll even find a few Single Malt scotches in that little circle!
I'm IN!

I'm just going along for the fellowship, and, maybe a drink or two (vodka tho, not scotch). I have a pretty jacked up neck. Was told by neurosurgeon (the day after I was diagnosed with RCC, in May) that my CDDD, coupled with stenosis, a tear, a bone spur indenting my spinal column and, bilateral pinched nerves at C5-6, would require surgery. Naturally, my kidney came first. But, there are plenty of other rides that aren't coasters and believe you me, I'll be on em!! I am a thrill seeker at heart!!

It seems we may have enough for a group (minimum 15), but it is a little early to request firm commitments and travel plans. I will raise this again in April or May. Meanwhile anyone is welcome to reply if they are interested.

Sounds good Iceman
Right now, John's shoulder met and the pain associated would probably preclude his riding the roller coasters. (I can see Dr. Hammers' eyes roll at the thought.) That same problem has stopped his golf. But come Spring, things may be altogether different.
Thanks for putting it out there Iceman.
