Exercise...

The oncologist at MDA told me that exercise was one of the best ways to combat cancer.   Here I go walking everywhere!

    I totally concur!  Walking really is the best exercise, so put on those shoes and take off!

    I wish you were too!  We could talk nd walk all over MDA!  I actually did walk the the Skybridge to Mays twice, there and back.  Its quite a long bridge!  And the Skybridge between Rotary House and Main Clinic I didn't even TRY to count, LOL!  Who knows!  Maybe someday!

    Asics

    I have painful neuropathy in my feet so walking and doing zumba and all the things I do can be very painful. The best shoes I have found by far are Asics. Their gel soles seem to be the best around. Now I can't fit into Nike's very well due to the way they are sized generally, so I can't compare. But do go to a good store (running store) and get properly fitted for a comfortable shoe. Try carrying them in your car so you can slip them on with a really good cushy pair of socks. It really helps. I no longer skimp in the sock department.

    I second what Sandy has suggested.  Go to a running store that will do a gait analysis.  The will have you walk barefoot on a treadmill and video it.  Then they can analyze it and determine if you pronate or supinate.  From that, they can fit you with a proper shoe.  Some shoes are made for stability, some are neutral and others are for motion control.  I've had many pair of running shoes and in my case, Brooks are the best that I've tried.  But everyone's feet are different, so get some help to find your brand and start walking!

    Nikes are "dress sneakers". You know, picnic or park?  Too narrow in the toe box for me To walk in for very far.  I have a crazy many colored ASIC that I LOVE and a pair of Reeboks in BRIGHT raspberry that are really awesome.

    I have very high arches so wear supports when walking very far!

    From what I hear this is ever so true for anal cancer as walking / running helps to promote blood flow to the area to promote healing. The area being by nature somewhat restricted from blood flow by way of its physiology and functions.  

    Also sounds like a good excuse to buy some more trainer in some funky colours to go walking / running in! I've already started google imaging for a new pair afte reading this post...

    I planned on walking but the irritation plus feeling like I have a bladder infection has made the idea of walking or aerobics less than appealing!
