in Colorectal Cancer #1

I'm just finishing my second Folfox and since during the first one I was pretty low energy and lethargic and my friend kennyt reported pretty serious numbness in the fingers after his second treatment, I freaked out a little bit. 

This time I have nothing so far. No horsey voice like last time, not much cold sensitivity, not even the zing in the jaw at the first bite. The only difference is that last time I almost fainted while I was getting my calcium and magnesium so they had to stop it. This time had no problem so they gave me the whole dose.

It's crazy how different we react to the same thing. Let's hope the third treatment won't be much worse. But who knows. Chemo is just as sneaky as the disease it tries to cure.

    You never know

    This crazy cancer is so unpredictable it will drive you nuts. Every day can be so different and the chemo shows no logic. Pray it doesn't get to wacky.  Jeff

    You are aware of your body,

    You are aware of your body, that is a BIG positive for you!   Keep analyzing your feelings and symptoms.  Make sure to tell all to your doctor.  Even then, they misplaced my positive attitude for the symptoms not being "that serious".  This ended me in the hospital twice. Remember you are your best advocate, and strongest voice.

    I feel like a poisoned rat.

    Even though I don't have any specific side effects of the Folfox, generally I feel like I'm poisoned. The funniest thing is that I have this bad, bitter taste in my mouth and constantly thinking what could take it away. I crave food, but as soon as I think about something, the imagined flavor disgust me. There is an other paradox of cancer: makes you crave then it disgusts.

    Well, it could be worse. I'm grateful that this is all it is.

    Oh, finally something! Nice grilled salmon in a Japanese restaurant with ginger. Here I go!

    My neuropothy

    subsided in a couple of days for the most part pretty weird it comes on at about 8:00am for a half hour then it's gone.I can eat and drink cold stuff pretty quickly as well. I'm still hiking daily as well hope I'm not over doing it.

    Hi there!  First of all I

    Hi there!  First of all I would like to say good luck with your folfox regiment ... it can be rough ... I for one did rather poor on it  and had every known side effect plus some really weird ones to boot. 

    I have recently discovered that lemonade works to cut through that wicked taste ... now with that being said ... in your case on the oxi, it would have to be room temp or slightly heated.  Also, instant carnaton drinks heated also worked well for me on those days just following treatnment, and heated up feels nice like cocoa!

    My best to you on your journey. Oh... and sunglasses for the photosensitivity!!!!

    Will try. This bad taste is not the worst thing, but it's kind of demoralizing and causes me to constantly crave some food to get rid of it, taking my attention away from other things.

    Yes chemo

    is sneaky.  My wife is going for her 8th (of 12) FolFox treatments Wednesday.  Seems like every treatment offers something different in regards to side effects.  Being new or just worse.  Fatigue seems to be our latest battle.  Hang in there Laz.  As my son always tells me.  You got this...

    I carried Dry Ginger to all

    I carried Dry Ginger to all of my Chemo Dates. I would take a sliver of ginger before each injection.  This would lessen the overwhelming taste of the injections.  To me the injections taste like window cleaner down the throat. YECH!
