Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to post this August 18 marks 7 years since I was siagnosed with EC at age 32. I am a survivor and there is hope!

I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks be to God!

    What stage?

What stage were you diagnosed at?  What treatments did you have and where?   Thanks.

    treatment

I was a stage III Squamous Cell diagnosis. It was unusually high in the esophagus.

I do not moke or drink and cancer does not run in my family.

I did not have acid reflux.

I had five weeks of chemo: Erbitux once a week, and Cisplatin and 5FU weeks 1 and 5 in a continous drip (I wore a pump and bag).

During chemo I also had radiation once a week.

Following chemo and radiation, I had a month of peace. In December on 2006 I had an esophagectomy and stomach pull-up.

    Hope this helps...

    -David

Thanks for the additional info.  It's always nice to see someone who's beating this awful disease, especially a person who was diagnosed as stage III.  That's encouraging.  Thanks!

    Congratulations to you David.

Congratulations to you David.  I think you replied to one of my other posts about my mom's stent.  She was also diagnosed 2 yrs ago with Stage 3 Squamous cell.  Unfortunately, the surgery site and lymph nodes spread with cancer and she declined the G-tube a few weeks ago and couldn't switch Chemo meds.  She was on Taxol and Carboplaton and now doing Hospice at home.  That's why the stent didn't work. I'm covering the night shift right now.

Keep posting your good news.  There's alot of newer members who can find hope with survival posts.  I know that when I started this journey 2 years ago with my mom, I was desperate to find hope instead of the grimm statistics on the internet.

7 years is amazing.  I hope it NEVER comes back.  Congrats.

    Congrats,

You've got me beat by a couple of years.  Hopefully, I don't catch up, we just continue 2 years apart,
