The sugar debate
Glucose vs meat vs veggies vs regular; what a trip thru all the responses. Best time I've had reading in a while. Since there were no actual biochemistry majors with comments other than look at what so & so study showed, I have used deductive reasoning to conclude that you can't put people in box. No box is a perfect fit for anyone.
Just live, people. Try anything that you feel helps you live a little longer. Be glad you lived this long and hope you don't live long enough to be bedridden in a nursing home being fed thru a tube and suffering from pressures sores, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and neglect until you die.
I don't know why the discussion reminded me of a quote from Herman Melville's Moby ****, but here it is.
Seat thyself sultanically among the moons of Saturn, and take high abstracted man alone; and he seems a wonder, a grandeur, and a woe. But from the same point, take mankind in mass, and for the most part, they seem a mob of unnecessary duplicates, both contemporary and hereditary. Herman Melville, Moby ****

My recent experience
I had fevers pretty much every day for over 6 months. These were caused by uncoupled mitochondria in the cancer cells producing heat instead of the energy molecule ATP. In other words, its an indicator of tumour activity.
After going on the ketogenic diet and limiting my carbohydrate intake to 25g or less per day, the fevers stopped.
I broke the diet in preparation for my next TACE treatment, and from the very same day, my nightly fevers returned with a vengence, hitting an average of 39.5 Celsius.
Anecdotal I know, but more food for thought.

and that you can get back on the diet soon after, since it sounds like it's working for you. Good luck and keep us posted! AA

I love diet debates!
Debates are good even if you get upset, because it makes you think differently.
Many people say they will keep doing whatever they have been, because now that we got cancer it doesn't matter.
I think the biggest problem is that we take the last few decades as standard. People don't realize that after the 2nd world war the world went through the greatest prosperity never seen in human history. Food especially meat and carbohydrates became abundant and cheap plus marketing made them irresistible. So people take this unprecedented abundance as normal, not realizing that we consume many times the amount our body is used to. Now as a consequence we have all these degenarative diseases like cardiovascular, arthritis, diabetes, cancer.
I believe when it comes to diet you have to look at balance and moderation.

Had the TACE today. Both good bad. Firstly no major pain, so did not need serious anti pain meds like last time. Kinda missed the morphene feeling but.
At the moment I feel good again. liver swelling, pain and nausea all gone.
Bad news I lost feeling in my right leg. Hope its temporary, but noticed the severity of numbness depends on the position so there will be some artery issue.
Going back on the keto diet tmorra fyi.

So….where are all these 80~90+ year-old PITA Florida people coming from?
Maybe there’s something about eating butter, frying in rendered fat, and having plain ol’ white sugar on the table instead of bottles of pills and food substitutes, that might have provided their fantastic longevity?
Of course….if you’ve ever owned an aquarium… Putting too many fish in a crowded tank usually results in a lot of sick and dying fish……
Just sayin’…..
Best of health,
John

I majored in medieval history in college, so when I say "old days", I'm thinking 1300s!
And when it comes to those 80 year olds you're talking about, I agree...my parents both lived into their 80s, while eating a ton of fat, sugar, and red meat. My dad added a pretty significant amount of alcohol to the mix for a number of years too...just for good measure. No cancer, although both were overweight, and struggled with high BP.

I don't believe sugar causes cancer so I have no issue with it, though too much causes a whole range of other problems. The problem is once cancer takes hold.
