I agree with you, Eims, but was it really necessary to create a new thread just to say that?  (The more unnecessary threads we set up the more we lose track of important threads that get pushed out of site by such ephemera.)

tex you may not be impressed at some of the threads up here but some of us actually like a bit of light hearted relief and in some  respect we need it.  i do appreciate your views but honestly tex some of us come here sometimes to talk about anything but cancer.  i don't see anything in the rules that we need to talk about it all the time!!!!  i am hoping you were just having an off day and we are all entitled to those too.

Eims, you're right - I'm not impressed, but you're missing my point. 

You can't have read more than a handful of messages here if you haven't noticed that I fully approve of light-heartedness here and, in fact, I'm a major contributor on that front, whether I'm having an off day or not (and most of my days are off days - I'm writing in the small hours right now because I'm in too much pain to sleep).  But I don't start a new thread for every posting.  My point wasn't about what you said (I carefully pointed out that I agree with you) but that you could have said it in an existing thread instead of starting a new one.  People starting new threads all the time, for no good reason,  do us all no favours and undermine the value of the forum.

Eims, there's nothing quite like it!  Granted, we don't do 3,200+ miles in 8 days...that's hardcore!!  Hubby would be in hog heaven on a ride like that but, I tend to sit the overnighters out.  We do our fair share of fundraiser runs and I'll tell ya what, there's nothing quite like the sight of hundreds of bikers bringing toys for tots at Christmas time...just warms the heart!   My hubby would LOVE for me to learn to ride and have my own Harley but I'm perfectly happy riding b****, as they say.  Perhaps if you got a bike, hubby would follow suit.  It's some of the best quality time we share.

That Gary is "hardcore" in more ways than one.

I am seaching for cast lists from some "studios" now for proof!

Yes, theres no rules to what one can post, or when, or how often. and no one here would or should police this forum.

However, if everyone uses the forum for posts that might as well could be sent as private messages, this place would be swamped with posts and impossible to navigate. Example: I have been out of the loop for 4 weeks due to vacation, and just off the top of my mind I could have posted:

"How did the examinations go Djinnie?"

"I hope youre alright Fox, all things considered, after starting IL-2?"

"Anyone heard from Nano recently? I cant see any recent postings from him"

"Why is Michaels avatar a dog now? Did I miss something?"

"Eims, arent your scans coming up soon? Are you okay with the scanxiety?"

All of the above I could have sent as pm´s or found a relevant thread for. Point being, as Texas wrote, lets not clutter the board more than we have to.

And Eims, I hope you know, but i will state it anyway, this isnt directed to you, its a general observation and comment intended to be for everyones benefit :-)

Thanks for backing me on this one.  EIms's reply has made me so despondent that I am close to the point of abandoning CSN in despair, particularly in view of the degree to which the forum has become trivialised in recent months and there's less and less value in coming to the site.  

When I said I've been a major contributor here, I was referring solely to the matter of being light-hearted and I feel that, along with Gary, I've been a leader in doing that!  I think it's one of the crucial elements of the forum. 

However, the forum is for "kidney cancer" and anyone who wants to avoid thinking about cancer should go elsewhere rather than sabotage the forum by talking about everything other than cancer.   I find it depressing that a valuable resource is being subverted by much rushing to offer hankies and soothing words whenever some one thinks they may be about to go down with a cold, or is in a blue funk just because they have a scan coming up.  In any case, it's not a helpful attitude to talk oneself ill with worry about essential procedures that are designed to help protect one's health.
