Last Red Devil on Mon.
My 4th and last red devil is on Monday and I will be so glad! I have not had a lot of SE and what I have had were not terrible. Thank God! The 3rd was the worst and within a week I was wiped out physically, but, feel much better now. The dr. is going to wait 3-4 weeks to give me a short break before we start the 12 weekly Taxol. I will be glad and hope my taste comes back enough between these drugs to eat some good stuff.

Congrats early for your last red devil on Monday Doe!
Sounds like you have gotten through the Adriamycin with little SE's. Only one more, and you can be done. The Taxol won't be near as bad. I was given a triple chemo cocktail, TAC (Taxotere, Adriamycin, and Cytoxin), and had six treatments. Almost brought me to my knees. Also, I was on a trial sponsored by Johns Hopkins, trying to eliminate the Adriamycin for future patients. So far, all has been okay, no recurrence, and I have just passed my fifth year since end of treatment. Anyone who has not taken Adriamycin (Red Devil) should thank their lucky stars, as this drug is the most destructive to the patient. As far as your taste buds, you will probably regain your taste after a couple of weeks past treatment. Just letting you know you should be very proud of yourself for getting through this part of your treatment. Good luck with your last Red Devil and also your Taxol....it will be behind you before you know it. Hugs, Judy

I know it's been a very rough road for you. My prayers will be with you on Monday and for the weeks that follow. Just remember you kicked Red Devils butt by not letting it beat you.
You're tougher than "Rocky" and I can't figure out why they don't make a movie about you.
Hugs and prayers.

It seems odd, doesn't it, to be looking forward to having the chemotherapy, but it's the last one (of Ardiamyacin) and you can begin to recuperate from its ugliness. I did not have Adriamyacin, I had Taxotere, and I had enough side effects to be so thankful I didn't have the "Red Devil". Congratulations on putting this demon to rest.

No Guarantees
I had 4 rounds of A/C (Adriamycin/Cytoxan) every other week followed immediately by 12 weekly rounds of Taxotere. I did reasonably well during the A/C rounds but for the dreaded hair loss. For me, the Taxotere rounds were MUCH more difficult. Please remember that everyone reacts differently. There are no guarantees that you will react well (or poorly) to your Taxol rounds. This topic has been addressed in threads in the past and the experiences run the gamut from nearly negligible side effects to having every side effect under the sun. I hope the side effects you experience are minimal. Since I pretty much sailed through the A/C rounds I had expected/hoped to do as well on the Taxotere rounds. Sadly that was not to be. I am, three years out from my last chemo infusion and am doing well. I have a full head of hair and all my fingernails as well as new and perkier breasts.
I wish you much luck.
