Update on my Reconstruction

Hello all!

Today I had my post op appointment.  The surgeon said that this situation has never happened before.  He said that the tissue expanders that I had in ended up pushing my rib cage in even further.  As a result, the concave deepened.  He wants me to wait three months to see how much the ribs have rebounded - and to be honest, I do see a slight change between what they looked like on Thursday, and what they look like today.  Even so, if I still have uneven breasts, then he will either give me liposuction and redistribute the fat to my breast area.  Or he will replace the implant.  For now, I have to stuff my bra with guaze.  No prosthesis are allowed since they are too heavy.

My body never ceases to amaze me.

Dorene

It's good to hear that he sees the issue and will make sure you have a good final result.  I wish you didn't have to deal with this.

Please keep us posted on your progress.  I will be praying for you.

Dorene, I am glad that you

Dorene, I am glad that you have gotten some answers and pray that it works out!  Just to let you know, there is a very soft prosthesis (gauze-like) made of lightweight foam and not silicone.  I was given one by Reach to Recovery after my mastectomy.  If you call Reach to Recovery or google foam prosthesis, you may be able to find something more comforatble.

     Prayers and gentle hugs!

P.S. If you do get a foam prosthesis, do NOT get a weighted one.  Those are for swimming and have little weights in them so the prosthesis doesn't float out of a swimsuit.  The weights will be uncomfortable for you.

Thank you!  I went to the post mastectomy store today.  I spent a small fortune and a lot of time, but the wonderful ladies gave me the foam prostesis.  I need two of them to fill the gap and even the breasts!  I will feel better about going back to work with those in.  Waiting for this to be over.  Impatient! :(
