WOW! What a tough trip this stuff is. But this time it was not as bad as the first. I held my mind together. Skin? That's another issue. Or is it tisuue? I beter not committ any crimes cuz any dog coulds follow my trail. Flakes here, chunks there. My face has been so refreshed that I look like I'm 12 again. "cept the whiskers.
Only 6 infusions again. Creatine up to 2.8 and urine stopped flowing for about 24 hours. Thankfully. I was ready for more but had no problem saying OK.
Can't understand how some of you can do 14 infusions. Do we get the same dose? I heard them confirm my dose was 600 million units. Does that sound right?
Very tired. I'll need time to catch up with all the posts. Now, we wait and see.
FLY! Fox loves ya!
Sorry you are facing this, but at the same time, I'm glad its here for you!
You sound more up and energetic this time and thats a heartening sign!
Keep standing strong Fox my man!

I am so glad that you are back Fox and you got a free chemical peel too. Rest up.
Here's what I found about the IL-2 dosage. It also has a built-in calculator.
http://reference.medscape.com/drug/interleukin-2-proleukin-aldesleukin-342203
Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma, Metastatic Melanoma
600,000 International Units/kg (0.037 mg/kg) IV over 15 minutes q 8hr x maximum 14 doses, THEN 9 days of rest, then a maximum of 14 more doses
Retreatment: evaluate after 4 weeks, advisable only if tumor shrinkage & no retreatment contraindications

I've been following your posts and am glad you're finished. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! When do you get a scan? Are you done with IL2 or will there be more? I'm not familiar with how this works.

Like the general said in Apocalypse Now.... "Son if you eat those shrimp you'll never need to prove your manhood in any other way!" Seems like IL-2 is pretty much the same thing. And I can't believe that the way it attacks the body, that it isn't doing SOMETHING to the disease. No prisoners!

Home for several days. Really just getting going. Sleeping alot. Peeling like a zombie. Diarrhea, upset stomach. Haven't even turned on computer for a day or so. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right? Probably down 10-15 pounds of muscle mass. Wrinkled like a prune. I've got to say it again with utmost respect, How on earth could some of you do 12-14 doses? First round broke me mentally and physically. This time it broke me physically. Kidney and liver were shutting down. They even put me on a couple psych meds. I don't think I need them but if it helps with recovery, I'll do it.
Everyone, thanks so much for your concerns, support, and interest in my escapades. Love you Alex. It's not like you don't have your own issues. I'll need some more time to address so many posts but I'll catch up with my own brand of encouragement and humor. Just cut me a little slack. I don't mean to be so ego centric.

Hang tough Amigo! I can't feature what hell you are experiencing.
It is that egocentrism (positive dynamic attitude is the way I would describe it) you worry about is one of the keys to your successful completion of this. Keep the attitude and kick this cancer's ****!

This has been the longest thread ever outside of two general discussions of Votrient and Nephrectomy. This is how much everybody loves Fox.
You talking about wrinkles reminded me the most romantic quote from "Airplane!" http://www.rpmswavs.com/airplane/wrinkleit.wav
Rest up, get your strength back and then let's go riding and drinking beer before summer is over. With Mrs Fox's written permission of course...

I'm in. I see my dr. today. I will celebrate with a beer post visit. I need to get back into pub shape. Plus the fluid will fill out a few winkles.
For those that don't know, Alex had gone to medical school. However she couldn't pass the exam on conception and embroyology. When asked about the most important things that come out of a penis, she answered ,"The wrinkles!"

Finally beginning to feel like myself. But skinny and weak. I have lost 20+ pounds and tire easily. I've begun to exercise and can't do half of what I did for normal maintenance. Still peeling. But no longer uncomfortable. I have a followup Aug. 30th and scan will be scheduled then. This IL-2 is mean stuff. I really believe it is going to work. Recently talked to a guy at Yale who finished a week before me. Mild difficulties at best. So, I like my chances better than his. Why else would the IL-2 have kicked my a$$ so intensely? And so the battle continues. I'm ready to begin the next series of IL-2 in Sept. even if it kills me trying. By the way, I got my EOB from the insurance co. The first week in the hospital costs $298,739.88!!!....and 88cents? That part I can afford. Thank god for insurance. Medicare starts Sept. 1st. A whole new bunch of issues I'm sure. October will be 3 years since I was told I had 6 months to live. Of course pizza and beer will be part of the anniversay. I've been too weak to even consider riding my bike. But tonite I am going to a bike night. It is a yearly event that draws 4,000 bikes. I look forward to doing something normal. I have missed a big part of the summer. Let the party begin!

Fox, you are an amazing force to be wreckoned with. I admire your strength courage and fortitude. And of course the medical bills! Holy crow, 300k for one cycle? No wonder the CDN hospital systems don't offer that treatment. I think that's the yearly cancer budget per hospital lol. How many more cycles must you endure? And what kind of treatments are in line afterwards? I find this whole thing so fascinating.
Keep us posted. I enjoy your "Live from the Cookoos nest" reports. Best wishes, many hugs. I'll be cheerleading for you.
