Oh Cherie, I so know how you feel! Congratulations to your dad for getting through his treatment like a trooper. I pray for him right along with my brother. Hopefully we will both be able to report great news as far as our loved one's recovery goes!
Happy birthday to your daddy. What did you end up getting him??
All the best to you and your dad!
~Shawn~
Thanks Shawn! And to you and your brother as well! I posted a pic of what I got him. It was nothing big. They are moving and downsizing...but I figured they were things he could use while healing! I still want to get him something more, but I just don't know. I thought about ordering a neck wrap thing someone mentioned on here.

Thanks Matt and wishing youCivilMatt said:Cherie,
I will ring my bell for your Dad. Besides the neck burn I started to (slowly) feel better and improve soon after treatment ended. A great big weight has been lifted off your Dad I hope your family has many, many sunny days ahead.
Matt
Thanks Matt and wishing you many many sunny days as well! Also, thanks for all your support and wisdom! It's been greatly appreciated! I hope you all know that!

Cherie, you remind me of myself... I was in the same state as you are now, last September. The truth is that my dad was really "cooking" first month after rads were done and it was the worst. He was hospitalised and put on IV fluids for 3 weeks. But he felt good there in hospital because they took good care of him. He did not have PEG tube so IV fluids were absolutely necessary. He could not eat or dring anything for the first month. Only a few sips of tea. Then, after first month, things slowly started to improve. But for the first trhee or four months he mostly slept all day and eat his pain killers.
Your dad will go thru this too, I just know it! And yes, it is great to know that at least he is done with treatments and now he is on his way to recover with no more damages to the skin or the neck.
Thanks Vanessa! I know its going to take some time, but I'm just so relieved!

So glad the day after day crap is over for him. Now to finish cooking on the inside and start the climb back up. I look back to even 4 weeks ago and Rob has really started to climb up. It was real slow in the beginning. Your dad will probably be miserable for a couple weeks but the only thing to keep pushing him on is drink and swallow at least a half bottle a day. That's all Rob could do for awhile, but he had the worst case of Thrush most of the nurses had ever seen.
The thrush disappeared over night and the eating began. Popped the tube last week. He is having some withdrawl problems but just another round of crap on the climb.
Tell Dad to hang in there, drink and keep on trucking on

Thanks for all the encouragement Bill (and everyone!)! I know its going to take time... Dad had a pretty exhausting weekend. Didn't do much, but we all went to my older sisters and visited.

I think I recall youSandy,
I think I recall you mentioning Rob's thrush problems... so far dad has been hanging in there, but drinking minimum water by mouth. I feel like I can only push him so much before I annoy him. Hope that he increases his intake. Thanks for keeping us all in your thoughts! Hope that Rob keeps trucking too!
