Absolutely!
Every research and most people tell you yes. Not just that exercise is good for your body, but it's good for your mind. People with cancer who find the motivation for excercise most like will find the strength to deal with the illness too.
At the same time listen to your body. Chemo will deplete your energy. For me interestingly it was worse at the beginning and I took a lots of naps. But chemo actually brought me a lot of improvement: got rid of my pain, so during the second half of the treatment I wasn't that tired. But everybody is different and the Folfox you and I will be on is probably harder to take.
Again listen to your body but at the same time make an effort.
Take care Kenny till next time,
Laz

I have always exercised
I have always exercised through treatment. I would go in for treatment Wednesday and be mountain biking by Sunday.

If you feel well enough to exercise, great!
If you don't feel well enough, don't knock yourself out. Everyone is very different in how they respond to chemo...some folks train for marathons while in tx, others (such as myself) discover the joys of a Netflix subscription. Just do what feels right to you. I think even more than the exercise itself, getting out in the fresh air was important for me. Sometimes I would just pull chair into the yard and sit out there, feeling crappy but at least feeling a breeze. Keep us posted on how it goes~AA

It's so hard to do these treatments when if I didn't have a colonoscopy I wouldn't even know this existed in me. 5 weeks ago I was rock climbing and biking like there was no tomorrow, now I'm depressed and getting ready for chemo what do you do?

Keep reading in this forum. DO NOT listen to statistics. You will find many people who have beaten the odds. You can do this too.

You say if you didn't know you have cancer you would feel normal. Exactly the point. You are the same guy with all your qualities, family, work, excercise, fun, you just happen to be ill and you need treatment. Never lose that thought that you are no less than you were before. Concentrate on the things, people, plans you always had and still have. Nobody knows what he wakes up to, thousands die and get hurt really bad every single day. We cannot live in the fear of what happens tomorrow. Everybody should live for the moment, one day at a time. Here is our chance. Will we have bad days when you we loose this false sense of security and guaranteed long life, but we have to get back to it as soon as we can.
It's normal to feel the way you feel Kenny, but I guarantee you it will get much better.
Talk it out.

Just do it, even if you don't feel like it. You may be pleasantly surprised.
If you enjoyed exercise before your diagnosis, all the more reason to go back to it now.
I truly believe it will help you on this "marathon".
Yesterday, I was feeling tired and uncomfortable, but i forced myself to go for a short walk. I ended up feeling so much better that it turned into an hourlong walk enjoying the sunset and fresh air.

has been through 5 of 12 treatments with FolFox. She walks 30-40 minutes most days. It makes her feel good. I say if you have the energy, go for it!!!!

I'm hopeing that exercise will keep the appetite up as well
Appetite is very important. I keep snacking all day, because every time you eat your metabolism rises 20-30% and that increases your spendable energy. Plus you need to take your meds with food to avoid stomach ache unless the doctor suggests differently.
