another avastin concern

I had to stop Avastin 28 days prior to having my colostomy reversed. I started back on it 25 days later. Make sure your surgeon and oncologist are on the same page...

Probably the reason is, because the VATS procedure is not like a major open surgery. But I agree with the previous patient, check and verify everything. Doctors are human too. You have one patient to worry about: yourself. They have hundreds. It's the hard reality.

Kenny, I hope you are feeling a little better that your treatment started. Hang on my friend and things will get even better.

So with the VATS they removed all your lung lesions?

they removed just the large one in the left lung they said in the other lung they are very small and should see what the chemo doe's to them. I'm starting treatment thurs. morn. pretty nervous about that, how are you doing?

I finish radiation and Xeloda this Thursday then a few days of break. Starting on the 5th we will do 2-3 Folfox. Then a scan to see how the tumor looks. Once I have the scan I still have to find a surgeon somewhere in Los Angeles, because I don't like the local one. Even though he is like 55, he was very uncomfortable telling me my diagnosis and the treatment needed, so that made me not to trust him with such a big deal. I know it's just my intuition, but how can I hand my future over to someone I don't trust.

Secretly I also hope that the tumor will shrink eanough in the next 4-5 weeks that at least they can save my sphyncter. The oncologist told me as long as I'm on chemo there isn't much chance for the cancer to grow or spread, so I want to take a little time, because once the surgery is done, there is no turning back. I'm ok with any outcome, I just want to make sure that we did the best possible thing, you know what I mean?

In the mean time I work, garden , cook, shop (yes, I like to ,get out of town and try to pass the daily tests life is throwing at me to make my days good and meaningful. Sometimes I can, other days I can't. Wasn't any different before cancer either, right?

So let's get ready for that Folfox bull$hit and get it done Kenny.

Thank you all for sharing. One of my dear friends has had this treatment and said the infusions are shorter.

As always, I have concern about getting an "infusion" again and the whole regrouping that is required.

I am working now and sure hope i will be able to continue.
