It has been forever - Jobi Update
Hello dear friends. I must first apologize for not getting on this site in a long while. Even so, you have been in my thoughts - especially Linda. I am saddened by her news.
Since I last visited, I finsihed chemo, got a divorce, started writing a book, and bought a new house. My battle with cancer however did not stop. Almost a year to the day of my initial diagnosis, last November I found a lump in my left breast (my right breast had been removed a year earlier). I went through worries and tests and it was nothing. In March, it happened again. I had to make the decision to remove my breast. June 13, of this year I had my breast removed. I had tissue expanders put in, and that hasn't been a walk in the park. They are painful at first! The pain got so bad that I literally could not get myself out of bed; a friend had to help me. I think I only have one more office visit before setting the next surgery date. I just can't wait for all of this to be over.

Hi Kristen,
The expanders are painful for the days after saline injections. The pressure is immense, and I didn't expect for it to affect the rest of my body but it did. Thanks for your kindness.

A little late .. but I am going to add my 2 cents ...
TE insert at the time of my bilateral mastectomy. 3 weeks later, I had my first
fill of 120cc per breast. There is a pinch when the needle enters each breast --
and later there is a tightness due to the increase of fluids. Try try try 60 cc
first go around to to gage what you will be dealing with. Just a suggestion.
Ibuprofen taken 1 hours before fill helps, as well as frozen peas (lighter than
an ice pack) placed on each breast to help with the inflammation due to fill.small packages of frozen pea's also helped with my inflammation ---
Ask Plastic Surgeon staff what they recommend.

My next appt with the plastic surgeon is next week. I have to keep reminding myself that no one will advocate for me if I don't. I will talk to my surgeon about your suggestion.

Just trying to catch up so it was good to hear all about your journey. I hope the reconstruction goes well and this will be the end of it. I never had reconstruction but heard the expanders are not fun. Here is a hug and a prayer for you.
