2nd round of radiation and Chemo IN same year
2nd round of radiation and Chemo
After my husband’s Neck Dissection surgery the pathology report showed more cancer cell and his oncologist of radiation suggested doing more radiation and chemo.
I am trying to find if anyone has this kind of second round of radiation and chemo treatment?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
Thanks,
Hetal
ps: I have posted here before but here little recap
"My husband has HPV Origin Throat Cancer stage4. He had 3 rounds of high dose chemo and 36 radiation treatments. Past 3 month PAT/CAT was positive so he had neck dissection and they found all active cancer cells in there. Now both oncologist suggesting more radiation & chemo"

2nd and 3rd!
I have had radiation 3 times (different areas of the head) and chemo this last time. How long has it been sinse your husband finished rads and chemo. Mine have been a year apart. It takes a little bit more time for the Radiation Onc to map the field for radiation. I did better the second time (no chemo yet), added protein powder to my smoothie drinks and I got through the treatment a bit better. Chemo was given with this 3rd battle, it kicked me to the floor! Stay in touch, ask questions. Are you at a large cancer facility?

Hi Hetal
I've been through things several times too. What exactly is the situation. If you would fill out the bio portion of your "My CSN Space" it would serve as a ready reference for everyone to help.

Radiation
My husband had 2 rounds of radiation once in late 2010 and then again in mid-2012. First was for laryngeal cancer and the second for a tumor found at the cervical of his esophagus. These two rounds of radiation were in the same area. The one thing we were warned about was that his cartoid artery would burst and we would have to watch out for that. Its rare but does happen. The second round of radiation (35) was easier than the first round (35) as far as side effects. The radiologist/oncologist mapped it so that they were careful to keep his spine from getting more radiation. His only complaint was that his skin burned this time around where they did his laryngectomy and grafted skin. But they gave us mediation for it and it cleared up fast.
Wishing the best to you both -- Sharon

different opinion from chemo oncologist
So I just got call from my husband’s chemo oncologist doctor and he was saying that my husband had maximum radiation 35 and high chemo therapy and he suggested to try clinical trials!!! When I told him that other doctor suggested differently then he told me he will talk with him...so I will e waiting for phone call from doctor.
He had all this torment just 4 month ago...so does it very soon to give other round of treatment??
Thanks,
HETAL
