Had some bad news today from a Scan
I have been having some bladder infections on and off for some time. Treatment seemed to help for a while and then it would start again. A recent test showed a multi strain bacterial infection of unknown origin. Anyway the pain had become so bad that I was sent for a pelvic scan today.
The results were not good, I have a severe problem with my bowel. The bowel has become so enlarged it has adhered to and pierced the bladder wall. I am booked in for an endoscopy on Saturday to see the extent of the problem and determin the cause, in the meantime I am on antibiotics to ward off peritonitis.
Providing the infection is under control I will be booked in for sugery. The lower part of my bowel has to be removed along with a repair to my bladder.
I am only around 12 weeks post op, this news has blown my mind:( How this was missed I don't know!!
Anyway! Wish me luck I feel like I might need it.

Luck and prayers and postive energies and hugs and whatever wlse I have is yours for the asking!
You beat some bad news once. You can do this!
I'm hanging with you all the way!
Michael
Michael, thank you for those kind words, that is just what I need right now. I am struggling to get my head around this at the moment. It has certainly knocked any concern I had over kidney cancer into the back seat.
I know this is not a kidney cancer issue, and maybe I should not be discussing it on here. However I hope no one minds if I update you from time to time.
You have a big heart Michael, you can be my cheerleader any time:)

Really sorry to hear about this Djinnie. I hope it will go well and that you will have a speedy recovery.
Good luck. Im sure you will overcome this as well.

Thank you for those supportive words Galrim, I appreciate it. This has not been a good year so far to quote the Queen it has been " Annus horribilis "
I have shut down a bit right now, but I will have to accept it for what it is. Just need to find the will then I will find a way. I hope!

So sorry you have this to contend with. I have also wondered who said "we are never given more than we can handle". Best wishes.
Sue.

The double whammy...
DJ,
You can do this! I had two surgeries in five days, 1st the nephrectomy and then a thoracotomy to repair damage from the accident that led to my dx. The second time is not any easier physically, but mentally you know the drill and what to expect so less fear of the unknown which helps. Besides, your hubby will be back in the kitchen cooking up more new recipes for you to try, that ought to make it all worthwhile, hang in there.
Godspeed,
Gary

Hey Eims,
That is so nice of you. I have been through this before, but this time it is much more drastic. I haven't got over the body blow yet. They have started me on antibiotics to try to clear the infection first. As any spread of bacteria into the bloodstream would obviously be life threatening. The difficulty with this first step is that I am highly allergic to antibiotics, I have ended up in ER a few times. Anyway my Doctor is going to have to monitor me for the initial period. So fingers crossed that the infection responds quickly.
I would like to meet the person who said 'You don't get more than you can handle', as I feel like waving a white flag.
Thanks! For caring Eims, your words helped me this morning:)

Oh! My word I hadn't thought about the Master Chef! Just goes to show, with every down side there's always another down side:(
Thanks for the post Gary, I am taking a time out today to process the information, before the wheels are set in motion. I keep saying to my husband, ' This is definitely my last op', I obviously have a job keeping to my word. This will be my eighth, so that sounds like a good number to finish on.

When I can't carry the ball, I'll stand back and cheer for the peron that has it!
Actually that is a poor allusion. I am a baseball player, I least I was, from the age of three. The one cardinal rule for baseball players is to stay involved in the game whether you're playing or not. We called it chatter. We used chatter to support the our player swinging the bat. We chattered to encourage the fielders to their best efforts for that double play; we chattered for the pitcher to strike that batter out or for the defensive players to keep their heads in the game. It was an endless stream of support from those on the sidelines and in the dugout who could do nothing else at that moment.
Chatter was our way to be a part of the battle, even when we weren't swinging a bat or fielding a ball. It provided emotional support for the ones in there playing their hearts out. They knew they weren't alone.
You're at the plate and the count is even. Listen for it! I'm chattering.

You are in my thoughts and prayers
I'm so sorry you have to face this after what you have already been through. You are a strong person and you'll make it through this. I feel safe saying that we are all here for you, as you have been for us. Don't hesitate to use us as a sounding board even if it's not related to RCC.
I agree though, 2013 has been the worst year in my 41 years on this earth. I remember telling my wife on Jan 1st that I have a bad feeling about this year. I cannot wait for 2014!!

Djinnie - No white flags for you. We all know better. You're the one who charges on even when the forces on the other side seem overwhelming.
You are understandably feeling down now, you're weak and in pain. But remember we need you back here to talk others through these tough times. So take care of yourself and get stronger for the op. Know as you approach it you have the ground support of alll of us on CSN. Use us, abuse us, scream, cuss, or just vent. We're here for you as you've been for us. Sending prayers and good wishes.

Thank you so much BLKJAK and Alice, I really appreciate your comments. In fact thanks to all of you, I was feeling so down last night and this morning. I think I must have gone through a whole box of tissues. No point in staying like that though, swollen eyes and red cheeks is not a good look, even on a dark night:)
This site is something else:) and all the people on here are so special!! The most caring people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, albeit verbally. I am so grateful to you, and for the much needed booster shot.

Hey, You are right! Hot stone therapy should do it, one across the back of the head would probably work best:) lol! No joking aside, my friend is coming over tomorrow to give me an aromatherapy treatment. Knowing her, she will probably be packing a bottle of wine as well.
I am better today though, still pretty frustrated and angry, but that's good, it gives me something to work on. I have just got to knuckle down and get on with it, no amount of fretting is going to change things. I am scheduled for the same clinic as last time, down in Vannes, just don't know the exact date yet. Deep joy!!
