trouble connecting (not cancer)

I have had trouble connecting over the last couple of days

I have given up trying to connect several times over the last week. Frustrating.

Getting connected to the site has become a real problem again.

I have gotten to the point where I will enter user name and password, then open another internet window and do other things while waiting for it to take.

I have also had trouble with posts with lots of replys loading, which is why I copied Craig's update and started a new thread.  With over 60 entries that one was taking a very long time to load.

Hope they can get this back up to speed soon.

It takes so long I've been getting a lot of "timed out" messages.  I knew it wasn't on my end as everything else loads quickly, did anyone write Greta?  I will in about the five minutes it will take to go to messages, find write email and send, LOL, oh well, will hope it's fixed soon!

Unfortunately, spammers have once again targeted CSN. There have been almost continuous bot attacks on CSN, some so severe as to cause the site to go down (which is their goal). Our IT team has been searching for and adding more security measures the last 4-5 days--night, day and through the weekend. Apparently, because we're an online community, have a high volume of visitors and have been the target of major attacks in the past, we are at high risk for future attacks. The IT team has a game plan to avert most of the attacks but I'm not sure of the timeline for completion. Very soon I should think.

As for people using CSN private messages to spam/scam you... If you get weird email that doesn't feel right or make any sense, please let me know immediately. Send me a CSN pm with the username of the person and the nature of their letter. In addition, you can post it on the board to give others a heads up. We've had men looking for women, women looking for men, people asking for money or other help, selling products and services, promoting themselves/their business, researchers recruiting subjects for studies, journalists wanting to interview you, media people enticing you to be in a film/documentary, trying to convert you to follow them in whatever they are doing or believe in, etc. CSN prohibits the use of its site for solicitation of any kind.

Shameful what folks will do.....can't see what they derive from taking down or hindering a cancer website....other than just for the exercise or sheer pleasure of it all.

I'm sure it is mostly a thankless job that you do.  We probably take you guys for granted far more often than we know.  I appreciate hearing this update - as like many others, have had much difficulty in connecting, staying on or have responses even post....many have gone up in smoke, so you just stop trying.

I know there are alot of folks that truly need to talk right about now, so we appreciate your efforts to restore our environment:)
