Ever feel dizzy?
I did this weekend. I thought maybe I got up too fast or something and that is why it happened. So, I am figuring it is nothing.
I didn't say anything to my hubby. I just sat back down, so, he didn't notice. It did go away then.
I thought I'd see if it's happened to anyone else here.

Is this the first time it's happened? If not, you really should let your doctor know. It could be nothing or it could be something.
Hugs, Diane
It is the first time that I felt that dizzy. Just hate going to the doctor, so, I thought if it this has happened to others, I'd know it was really nothing.
Thanks!

Were you sober? Oh wait, that would be me. lol Dizziness can be a sign of several things Angie, some serious and some not. If it only happened this one time, maybe you did just get up too fast.
I know when I work outside in my flower gardens and it is hot, I get over heated and feel a little dizzy. So I try to make sure I always have water with me to keep me hydrated and take breaks in the shade.

Sorry Angie. I hope it doesn't happen anymore. My Mom always says the blood rushes to your head sometimes if you get up too fast. Maybe that is what happened?

Angie, dizziness when getting
Angie, dizziness when getting up too fast is usually normal and is called orthostatic hypotension. I have it fairly often--made worse because, although I have low blood pressure, I am on a blood pressure med to protect my heart. Orthostatic hypotension can be caused by many factors: age, low blood counts, meds, low blood pressure, etc.
The usual fix is to get up more slowly: swing your legs around, dangle your legs, wiggle them around and come to standing position very slowly. Sometimes easier said than done . If you do get dizzy, sit or lie down (which you did ).
If you have never had a spell before I would share it with my doc. Let him/her decide if it is OH or not.
My OH can be bad, so I have learned some tricks: pay close attention to how you get up after a night's sleep or when you have been sitting for awhile. I do not shower in the am (baths or pm showers), because I am more prone to OH in am. Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids--especially in the summer. And it can help to drink a little OJ or water before getting up.
I have actually fainted twice, which is scarier for those around me. One of my nursing professors once said the cure for fainting is to lie down and your body takes care of that by making you faint and forcing you in a horizontal position. The takehome message was don't make a person who has fainted sit up. Let them lie there for some time before you try to get them up .
Praying your condition is OH and not serious! Please let us know!

I was sober Sue! LOL It just scared me. You better be careful too. What you are describing could be a heat stroke.

Thanks for the info Cynthia. I actually have high blood pressure and wondered if that could have caused it. I have a blood pressure aperatus at home, but, I didn't want to go check it with my hubby there. Didn't want to scare him.
I just HATE it when something new happens in regards to our health.

I am thinking that both high and low blood pressure can cause dizziness Angie. And, you should have checked your blood pressure, whether your husband was there or not. He needs to know. Have you told him yet?
How about just calling your doctor, your GP, and, see what he might say about it?

Do you take a HBP med? If so, the dose may need to be adjusted. Definitely check your blood pressure, Angie. Linda

I have had this happen, but, I think it was truly because I just got up way too fast, as, I felt fine once I stood up and got my bearings. But, it was kind of like wow, what is happening.
Yours could be something else though, you said you had high blood pressure. Maybe your meds need changed.
Talk to your onco or your gp. Good luck!

Angie, if you've got something that measures your bp at home, please check it daily and keep a record of it. If it is high a lot and you're taking your bp med, you really need to contact your doctor about it. High bp and dizziness are serious.
