Treatment Unsuccessful
The latest CAT Scan indicated that the chemo did not slow or reverse the spread of the cancer. Therefore, the chemo has been discontinued and the cancer is left to run its course. I should expect "months" to live rather than "years".
For a short time, I will feel better as the side effects of the chemo wear off. There is a lot to absorb. The outcome did not come as a complete surprise; but I was on the other hand not quite ready for it

A Heavy Heart
I am so sorry to hear your news. I have no words of my own that I could possibly say to you in a time like this. Here is one of my favorite benedictions found in the book of Numbers:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you:
the Lord life up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
May God's grace and peace be given to you and your family during this difficult time.

Rick....Like so many others
I don't know what to say except I am saddened to hear this news. Words seem so weak when what I want to do is reach out and protect you....if only I could. I will be keeping you tucked in my pocket....and sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. We are always here when you need to talk.

You
So sorry to hear. Enjoy each day as it comes and remember no one but the man upstairs knows how much time we have. I remember 6 months ago when we found out that my husband's cancer, which started as laryngeal first and for which he was and still is NED, was found to have a second primary at the cervical of the esophagus and treated but only NED for about 4 months and then reoccurred and spread to his right lung. The doctors said only chemo but Joe declined any further treatment. In actuality he is doing okay today, does what he wants when he wants and still enjoys each day for which I am very grateful to the man upstairs.
My prayers and thoughts go out to you and each on this board who are having to deal with this beast.

Upsetting news
Rick
I haven't been on CSN for a few days and when I do I find your disturbing news. I hope and pray there is a miracle in your name. My brother in law who is a priest (Father Joe) comes up most Sundays for dinner, and I will make a special request for you today.
I basically sit here speechless except for................. Cancer Fu---ng Sucks.
Thoughts and Prayers

I've heard this many times
I've heard this many times before as an oncology and hospice nurse.... BUT miracles do happen. I've actually had to discharge patients from hospice because after 5 years they're condition did not worsen. Don't give up on yourself. Find out what foods are best for your body. Stay positive, live life to the fullest, and don't believe everything the professionals have to say. Our 'Western' medicine isn't the only remedy out there.
God Bless you.
