Texasgirl10's first treatment on new chemo
Dawne had her first treatment of the gemzar yesterday. She was very sick last night and said she felt like she had the flu. That was pretty much what they told her to expect. She is not on steroids with this chemo and is very happy about that. Her lymphadema is giving her trouble, she is hoping not taking the steroids will help that. She is having some pain at the cancer site. She was not having any nausea today and was relieved! She will take treatment 2 Wednesdays in a row then off 1. Thank you all again for the prayers, love and support for Dawne. God Bless you all
(((hugs))) Janice

Pain Patches Might Be Helpful!
Hi Janice,
Thanks again for keeping us posted on another stage IV sister going through what is equivelant to hell. Does Dawne wear pain patches? if not she might ask for one to help with pain at the cancer site. That is why there are pain patches. I wear a fentanyl one and it really helps keeping me pain free. One wears the patch for 3 days before having to put on a new one.
I have lymphedema also and will be getting my sleeve and glove next week. It had to be custom made and I will wear all the time except when I sleep. When my arm with the lyphedema is giving me some trouble, I slap on a lidocaine patch which help. You might suggest that she ask her doctors for both, the lidocaine patch which is short term (3 hours) and the fentanyl patch which I wear for (3 days).
There is no reason to suffer when there is help we can obtain. I do wish Dawne well with her new chemo and hope it works to shrink that awful tumor.
Thank you again, hope you are doing ok, yourself,
Best,
Doris

I hope with all my heart that Dawne's new treatment works, as she is one of us, the 30% who are unlucky enough to be diagnose with metastatic cancer.
I like to believe that Dawne, Camul, JamieW, Gabe N Abby Mom, New Flower, CypressCynthia, Smalldoggroomer, Chenheart, MyTurnNow and any other stage IV sister whose name I might have miss, including myself are heroines on this discussion board. Using the name of just one sister while making this comment, is being insensitive to the rest who struggle just as hard to hear the words "stable" or "regression" in hopes for that illusive cure.

It is so obvious how loved Dawne is and I know you are too Janice. The outpouring of posts and good luck to her
are just amazing.
I do check often to see anything new on her. I wish I did know her and hope I will get the chance too.
I pray that her family will remain strong and that Dawne will have the best of luck on treatment!
Big hugs,
Rose

What about the rest of us Noel, don't we need prayers and positive thoughts?
This isn't a contests between Dawne and the all the stage IV sisters. I am certain that Dawne would agree. We all need the encouraging posts. I am not going to make my point into one of those flame wars. I just believed that all the stage IV sisters needed this sort of postings, as do the newly diagnose

Sirod, I am sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about. This post is about Dawne, and, Dawne only. Janice is always so kind to post any news about her and we post back to offer whatever we can, hope, love, kindness, support, encouragement and whatever else we choose to write. It doesn't alienate others, it just does what it is suppose to do, give anyone on here the right to write what they want to, to Dawne, and, only Dawne, as, this post is about her. It is about Dawne! We should not have to censor what we write to or about Dawne, now should we? And, I really, really hope that Janice won't stop posting updates on Dawne to us, as, we are concerned about her, very concerned.
My best to you too,
Noel
