Double rad treatment in one day?

Has anyone had two treatments in one day?  They want to double me up tomorrow so I'll be completely DONE! I'm very excited at the possibility of ringing that bell at 3:30pm tomorrow, but nervous about two treatments in one day.  They will be almost 8 hours apart. I'm feeling SO much better with the PEG, but this saliva, mucus, crap that builds up in my mouth and throat is awful.

    I never got that lucky....

but have heard of others getting double treatments to make up for missed ones.....so....WHOO HOO for you!!  Only one more day of getting up and dressed to go to radiation instead of two.....I would have LOVED that!!

The crap in your mouth is temorary....remind yourself of that....it may well be the first thing to go after rads are completed....just keep in mind that you continue to cook for about 2 weeks after they are done.  Then things start getting better....slowly but surely.

    two in one

    Is this the same TracyLynn?

I never had two rads on the same day, but I know it is done.  Get ready to ring that bell and start the road to recovery.

    Very good,

    Over 6 weeks I had 6

Over 6 weeks I had 6 treatments per week. 2 times on Thursdays. That was the long day. Rad @ 7:30 am, chemo at 8:15 for 4 - 5 hours and then another rad at 3:00pm. My rad onc did this to "buffer" the radiation in case I missed a treatment or the linac broke. Which it did once. The interlocks failed.

    One year later still NED.

    Double portion

Yes, I had that, to recoup for the long weekends, a couple of times (6-8 hours apart), during the 7 weeks radiation.

    2x in a day

They offered this to me, but it was a trial back then and it was rads 2x a day every day.  This was going to be in combination with chemo for 4 days straight then 3 weeks off of chemo.  The rads were to last for 5 weeks 2x a day.  I felt that this might just a bit hard on my body so I opted not to do it.  Others were doing this trial and the 2x a day were really hard on their bodies and many had to stop or delay some treatments because of the toxicity.  But that was also much more than a one time 2x rad treatment in a day.

    Get R Done....

Two in one day is not uncommon, even for the entire gamut of treatment...

So having a 2fer for one or two days and being completely done sounds like a great deal to me...

    double whammy

I would vote for a two-fer today and then having it all behind you by this evening.

Sounds like a great idea to me, and you can start the weekend off knowing that you don't have to drag yourself back on Monday.

CONGRATS on having just a few hours left !!

    In 2 1/2 hours

I'll have my second treatment for the day.  I did the first one at 7:15am this morning.  Then I am done.  I plan to ring that bell clear off the wall :)

    Congratulations!

You have made it through!  Now, let the cooking continue... at least for a couple more weeks. And then the healing will begin.
