Today
It was one of those days when you just gotta say "life don't get better than this!" It's my dad's 80th bday and he managed to arrange to get me, him and my younger brother a ride on a WWII B-17 bomber. The flight was short and I couldn't really get up to tour the plane in flight. But, like I said afterwards, "it's a good thing I wear a catheter 'cause I would have pissed my pants!"

That is super cool! I used to work near an airfield in NJ that would have vintage WWII aircraft there once a year. I always stopped in to check out the aircraft. They had a replica of the Memphis Belle one year and the building I worked in was at the end of the runway. When the P-40's took off it sounded like a pack of 100 Harley's flying by.
I can sense your delight all the way here!!

As Phil said, That's really cool!! I've always wanted to fly in one of those! Yeah, I know, not a real girly thing, but my dad was in WWII, so guess I became a military buff due to him. This reminded me of a funny story years back when I was dating. I had eagerly agreed to go to an air show with a guy that I didn't meet until that morning. He was a former Air Force navigator, so he wanted to impress me with all his knowledge of the planes. Lets just say he was a bit shocked when I pointed to a line of aircraft and said, "I'd like to check out the Blackhawk helicopter and then the A10 Warthog." . He later asked me, as he pointed to two engines, "Do you know what those are?". I then correctly and quickly identified a Pratt and Whitney engine and a GE aircraft engine. His eyes widened in surprise. I really enjoyed that moment. But I think I hurt his ego... Eh, he was too short anyway.
Take care Doc, and I hope that you can get your pain under control.

Cool thing to do.....I saw the father on Pawn Stars ride in one of those last year...same deal...they somehow arranged a short flight.....and the dad was a WWII guy and so that was important to him too.
Glad you enjoyed the day, Ray.....that was a good one alright!

Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers.
I can't believe it'w been a week and a half since I last posted. The days just got by in a blur and I often forget what day it is. I've been having a lot of gut pain lately in the intestine tract. I've also been very tired all of the time and often suddenly wake up after sleeping for a couple of hours. I've also lost more weight, I'm down to 120 lbs now.
Nice to see you we're able to post. thinking of you everyday.
Hugs Dyan & George

Doc Hawk-Ray
How are you doing? Do you have the pain under control? I was just thinking about you.

Good to see you post again
Ray,
What a great outing you had with your father (happy birthday to him) and your brother. There is a lot of history and nostalgia in the older airplanes. My father had been training to be a navigator when the war ended.
We also have a yearly air show here and the Confederate Air Force comes out in force.
Positive thoughts and good pain management to keep that intestinal irritation under control.
Post when you can,
Art

Hey Ray
Great to see you up and about and managing. That plane ride is definitely one of the coolest things ever. Would love to do that but I don't have a catheter! Have a bag for the other end though so at leat you wouldn't have to smell it. Great that you have visitors. Those are always fun.
