Two years ago today I had my last radiation zap. So far, so good... I'll be celebrating by having a colonoscopy next week.

Congratulations!
Ann, that is awesome and I hope you will find some way to celebrate before or after the colonoscopy! The first two years are when most recurrences occur, so this is a very big milestone. Party down, Girl! I wish you all good news on the scope and may NED always be in your life!

Great!!!! Keep the good news coming for many many years. I am just a couple months ahead of you and felt noticeably well ( I still seldom use the word cured) at 2yrs. I recently saw a picture that someone had taken with me a couple years ago and really made me realize how far I have come. Enjoy that colonoscopy celebration ........ lol

Thanks
Thanks everyone for the good wishes! Yes, it's been quite a journey! Whew! Tomorrow afternoon I get to take 3 dulcolax pills followed by a Miralax/Gatorade chaser. I can hardly wait - lol! My colorectal dr mentioned the word "cured", but I want to wait until the 5 year mark before I say that. Will have to think of a cool way to celebrate - 109 here today!

The word "cured" makes me nervous as well! Never thought I would be superstitious but but want to jinx anything!
96 degrees here. In worst drought since the 50's. small lakes have dried up.... Fires are burning... Really scarey stuff.

.....we had a freeze warning last night so had to cover up or bring in plants!!! As soon as we have one nice day we have three cold. Its supposed to hit almost 70 today but cool 60's the rest of the week. This is unusual even for here.

I have taken this word out of my vocabulary and will never use it. The reality is every human will get cancer eventually if they live long enough, not succumbing to something else first. I'm going to be 60 in a few months, so I hope my luck holds out for quite a few years yet!

I agree Martha. I even feel a little funny doing the survivor lap at Relay for Life (but do with friends anyhow). I kind of feel like in my case, I had/have cancer, it was treated, I now live and live happily, but with side effects, they are manageable but with me for life along with the chance of recurrence, so cured ????? or not I don't really know. Maybe physically but the unseen emotional part of cancer is not curable is it?

I agree. Even though those cancer cells may have been wiped out, all the emotional stuff remains. Some days I hardly think of it, other days it weighs heavy on my mind, such as today because I had a CT scan this morning. My docs are checking the condition of my intestines after the blockage, which is most likely compliments of the radiation.

I pray that your scan comes back clear and soon you can lift that weight from your mind. I find keeping busy while waiting helps a little, but sometimes hard to focus. On my last scan while waiting for results I cooked, and cooked, and cooked,.........and cooked!

I eat and eat and eat! If we lived close to each other and had our scans at the same time, we'd be a pair!

Woooohooooooo!
Just read this. Such good news and another milestone. For me the two year date will be August 15th. With the Lymphedema treatments, I really am feeling better than I almost can ever remember. Self care is time consuming but at least I won't feel if complications do arise that I didn't give it my best.
The main thing is we have it behind us and we are good today!
Fondly,
Sandy

Yes, we've come a long way and made it! I wondered if I would ever feel this good again.
