Normal...
Welcome Jej,
Not much of anything we go through with cancer treatment is "normal"...
As for your father, more information is needed...
For myself and others about a week after our big does of chemo, we received an injection to help with blood counts. Me specifically the injection was Neulasta, and it did make all of my major bones hurt and ache for a few days, similar to having the flu.
Also given with the first day, and next two days was Emend, a med to counteract nausea, and it worked wonderfully... Zofran or similar was given after that for any daily nausea. With nausea you can easily have vomiting, color I would only presume is from what's in his system and stomach.
It's a good idea to establich a good report' with his MD's and ask questions on everything you aren't certain of and especially anything that you would consider not "normal"...
Again, welcome, there are many awesome people here and a ton of information and expereince... More than likely if you have something going on, someone else has already had it...
Best ~ John

more info needed
Hi Jej,
Please provide more details about the treatment, so that others can chime in with useful info.
I can only tell you that vomiting is very common after Cisplatin. As John mentioned, Emend (given one dose every day for 3 days after chemo) is the most potent anti-nausea drug; Zofran is very useful. Hydration is of utmost importance. Other treatments can be also given, but need to know more details. As for the color, it is suggestive of bilious vomiting. This might cause bile-induced inflammation of the stomach. Bile salts interfere with the gastric mucosal barrier, allowing acid to irritate the stomach lining and cause gastritis (hence the pain). But this is just a speculation, not knowing all the details.

I'm going to have say it too...
More information needed.....bone pain can be caused by Neulasta or another drug to enhance WBC's? What chemo drug is he getting, and what is he eating? Is he getting radiation at the same time.....

I had Cisplatin and did not have bone pain but did have to be hydrated for a week following my first tx. I was given several medications to prevent nausea and they worked for me. Is your Dad getting anti-nausea meds? There are several options so if one doesn't work, ask to try another. Be sure to share symptoms with doctors as there are lots of things to help.

pain and vomiting
Sorry to hear about your father and nasopharyngeal. I too have nasopharyngeal, and started with cisplatin treatments. The first round did produce vomitting (after the steriods and meds wore off from the infussion). So after 3-4 days after infussion, i would spend about a week vomiting at various times. Color depended on what i ate. For the bone pain, i've experienced that, but not until after the third round of chemo. Onc thought it might be related to low vitamin D, and sent me for blood tests. I was low, but not enough to require additional vitamins and it went away after a few days anyway. I suggest getting a vitamin D bloodwork done.
Best Wishes!
