Hi Mike,
I used it too. The point is that skin care products contain carcinogens, cancer causing ingredients. Presently, there is little regulation of what we put on our skin. Products are absorbed into the skin and into the blood stream. Up until very recently, there has been very little attention paid to the cancer causing agents we are exposing our bodies to through application directly onto our skin. There is a movement to change this. The first step is awareness. When you go onto the site, it is truly an eye opener to see the level of toxicity we expose our bodies to everyday. Corporations making claims of "all natural" or safe, have no meaning today. For instance, for makeup, I switched to a company called, " Bare Minerals". They advertise themselves as all natural and safe. I bought the whole line. When you type in "Bare Minerals" , you see that the claims they made are false. Yet, there is no way to stop them from making the claim.
We need to know what we are putting into our bodies. This goes for food, skin care products, water, and the air we breathe in. Cancer is on the rise, not on the decline. We can't really curb the suffering without awareness. The United States does not protect consumers as much as European countries do. Chemicals that are banned in Europe are allowed here. That needs to change, or cancer incidence will continue to climb.
I have used this site to inform myself and make the changes that I can. Our bodies need every opportunity to thrive and heal.0 -

Unless one is a chemist we as consumers are relying soley on someone else testing products and evaluting them. No regular consumer is going to know for certain whether a product is harmful or safe. While I agree with you each of us should have an awareness of the products we use there is no way we as a normal consumer can be certain they are complely 100%safe.

Mike,
Cosmetic companies can put almost anything into their products. The Website that I posted above is a good resource for determining the safety of cosmetic products.0 -

Skin
What I had never thought about is that our skin is our largest system and source of exposure to carcinogens. Whatever we put on our skin goes directly into our blood. It is really, really important that we limit our exposure to cancer causing ingredients. Women especially, are putting products on our skin all the time in an attempt to look good. Well, death by cancer is not beautiful! I highly suggest that everyone go to this site and check out the products that you are putting onto your skin, which goes into your body!

http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/There have recently been reports in the news about some lipsticks containing lead. Also, for years there have been ongoing studies on the link between aluminun and Alzheimer's disease. One common source of aluminum which most of us are exposed to daily is deodorant. I guess cancer isn't the only thing we must worry about when it comes to exposures in our environment. Thanks for the link.

It is not possible that all
It is not possible that all the skincare products will harm your skin. There are many natural skin care products you can use that will never harm your skin and make it more beautiful and healthy.

You can go to Environmental Working Group website, where they rate the toxicity of skin care products. Knowledge is power! You hqve a right to know what you are putting into your system through your skin! You don't want to poison your body in the name of beauty! Cancer is ugly!!!0
