Nano knife for inoperable tumours

In September 2012, I had a liver resection of one tumor and 5 small ones were destroyed, hopefully, with nanoknife. So far so good. I had a CT and MRI that were clear. I will have a PET scan next month. Last month I finished 12 rounds of FOLFIRI and avastin. Total of 24 rounds of FOLFIRI since February 2012. Now I am on avastin only. Prior to this I had a failed liver resection, 12 rounds of FOLFIRI, and SIRT spheres. I live in Louisiana.

10/11: I had a colon resection, colon reconnected during surgery, one tumor showed up in liver on scans (3cm)

Had radiation to pelvis with 5FU pump mon-fri for 5 weeks in nov-dec '11

1/12:attempted liver resection, but numerous small tumors found scattered throughout liver, nothing was removed

February-aug: 12 rounds of FOLFIRI. March and April SIRT spheres

9/12: only tumor that showed on scan had shrunk 50%. It was resected and 5 other very small ones were nano-knifed. Largest tumor was 70% dead.

11/12 thru 4/12: 12 more rounds of FOLFIRI, avastin added for last 5

On avastin only right now, my insurance company is not covering it since it is not a standard protocol by itself according to them.

Since I had FOLFIRI and SIRT spheres during the same period, I can't say if one worked better than the other, or if chemo alone would have done it. Hope this helps. I would be happy to answer any other questions. Lisa

Thanks for the additional info. My husband, Steve, is waiting to find out what's next. Hoping for a resection but may go SIRT or TACE depending on the scan results. Hoping to avoid systemic chemo for the time being. He's done a total of 27 Folfiri sessions. He does well as far as tolerating this cocktail but a break would be so nice.

We lost a lot of time here, with liver mets, my father had in the first time 3 , after 4 , then 5 and we lost a lot of time here bc of SIRT are new here, and TACE with irinotecan is risky too.

I was researching a lot about liver, and my common suggestion if somebody can use RFA no doubts, use it, the RFA for lesion smaller than 2 cm or 3 cm and not more than 4 lesions, it is the best, nearly for me better than a resection.

Now we had a resection in two stages and the right lobe removed, but appeared a brain met.
