Today's dose of irreverence - Cancer Cliche's; post em if you've got em!
After my LONG AND COURAGEOUS BATTLE with Head Neck cancer, I am learning to deal with my NEW NORMAL. The fact that people are LIFTING ME IN PRAYER has helped me to become a SURVIVOR. Sometimes I feel a lump and fear a cancer recurrence, but I tell myself IT AIN'T CANCER TILL SOMEONE TELLS ME IT'S CANCER. Every day I LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST, knowing that EVERY DAY IS PRECIOUS.
Did I omit any cliche's? Add them to the list if you can think of any I missed.
Deb

I like your exspressions page
Deb,
See what did I say, “honest shoot from the hip style”. This is sure a departure from dental questions. I tend to ride my horse on cliché trails, he tends to buck less. Is this what is known as an abi-normal post or is this normal? I would like to taste what you are drinking but everything tastes like card board. Feel free to vent Deb we’ve heard it all, the H&N forum is the greatest. Sometimes these threads are as dry as my mouth, but you are like a Xylimelt in the evening, pop a few and I can sleep. Slowly, I am feeling better and the side effects are less, but remember it is tough but doable. I have to admit I had a high tolerance for pain and I stayed in front of the nausea and luckily my magic mouth wash and my Lorazapam made treatments bearable. I’ld like to help with the clichés but I had radiation brain and cannot think straight and from what I ‘ve heard my teeth are going to fall out.

Deb, you cracked me up...
both you and Matt give me a chuckle most of the time.
There isn't much left over in the cliche department, so I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one day at a time...trudging the way to my happy destiny.
p
PS...Matt...I just said to my hubby today...."this must be teeth week on CSN...."...LOL.

Phrannie,
Don’t worry, the beast won’t get you, we won this battle and the monster has been zapped. So jump back on the train, that light you see at the end of the tunnel is our last stop on this adventure, no more groundhog days for us, just soft food and smoothies using our Vita-mix 5000. You say it might be Thrush, but I looked at your tongue and I think it was just spicy foods. What do you say we work up what little saliva we have, spit in a tube and meet Laralyn at the DNA lab and since I was HPV+ I should get better results. 7 weeks spinning this yarn will go by fast once it gets started so I guess we just hurry-up and wait.
Night,
Matt

Bad things happen to good people (First thing my Doctor said)
hey, I could get hit by a bus and be worse off than you (well meaning Fools trying to empathize)
There is nothing worse than a kid with cancer ( misdirected friends who just don't know what to say)

While you were all up at 2 a.m. posting, I was dreaming that the few teeth I have left on the bottom were on a track and could be slotted to different positions. I could move them all to the front for appearance or to the side/back for eating. Thought I'd look into getting a patent today.

Christmas Day 2009 one week after sugery, I had a trach that was draining throat sludge, 4 drainage tubes out of my neck, staples along my swollen neck from ear to ear, and a feeding tube coming out my nose and my sister-in law looks at me while crying and states "your my hero".
