Dancing with NED
I was diagnosed with TNBC in Dec. 2009. I had a right mastectomy in Feb. 2010 and finished chemo in August 2010. After that came 2 reconstruction surgeries. I have been dancing with NED ever since. I recently went to my oncologist for a check-up and she said that once I hit the 3 year mark (which she says is 3 years since the last chemo) my statistical chances of a recurrence drop dramatically. I will take that! After my 3 year anniversary she said I can come in for a check-up only twice a year. I worry just a little bit less after each month passes.

New
Hello,
I was diagnosed March 21 with tnbc. Double mastectomy April 12. Been so scared that it is nice to see people past this point. I had expanders in but no fills yet and chemo starts next week. Been having lots of pain today that is new. I have been walking and am back to work so not sure if I overdid it. glad you are doing good. Gives me hope.

Doing OK
Hi Patrice,
I'm doing OK. I finished chemo almost exactly 2 years ago. I had a couple of big scares during this time. I had really bad headaches so I had an MRI on my brain. It showed an abnormality so they repeated the MRI three months later and found it was not cancer - something is unusual but at least its not cancer. I also had a pain in my side which they think is due to chemo caused menopause. I'm mentioning these things for the benefit of those who are new to being survivors. Our doctors will check out any problems we have but it doesn't necessarily mean its a return of the cancer. Its so hard to go through the tests but I'm glad my doctor checks things out. I go for check ups every six months now. I have no regular scans or blood tests. I'm hoping for the best for every one of us!

Hi My TNBC Pink Sisters!!!
I know when I stopped chemo how scared I was. I felt protected getting chemo. Even though they said they didnt want to see me for 3 months I went back sooner. I had a very hard time with the fear but the way I overcame it was by the alkalizing nutrition I put in my body.
So I made it a challenge. WHile I was in treatment I took an online course and got certified as a "Health Counselor".
When I found out one of the Chemos given for BC was Taxol I did my research about that drug.
Taxol comes from a YEW plant in the Pacific. The plant is alkaline. Cancer cannot survive in an Alkaline body I was told. So I went online and printed out all alkalizing foods and changed my diet drastically.
I also gave up refined sugars....even limited my fruit intake. Lemon in your water is great to drink because in becomes alkaline in the body.
If you do what your body needs you to it will build your immune system. Cancer is an autoimmune disease.
Diseases enter acidic bodies not alkaline bodies.
Know your food and look at the lists online...acidic vrs alkaline.
Also, low vitamin D levels are not good. Get your vitamin D checked. They say normal range is 30 - 70.....seems too far fetched for me.
I take 5,000 iu's of D3 everyday...you get 20,000 IU's from 1/2 hour in the sun. Every woman I know with breast cancer had low D levels.
My vitamin D now is between 65 and 75.
These are just a few of the things I've learned.
Research Green Vibrance online and drink that everyday. I did during chemo and my Oncologist was so shocked at how well my body took the drugs. I wasnt even nauseous.
I wish you nothing but good healthy thoughts and the best of good health always!!!

I was just diagonosed April 10, 2013, a day I will never forget. I am just starting this "trip" and got through surgery and node biopsy 10 days ago today, today also marks one month since my diagnosis. My surgery report showed that one of the three nodes removed was cancercous, and DCIS was found in other areas. I cant help but think if I put off just one more month of going to the Dr. when I found my lump, I would have a bigger mess on my hands! Early detection is no joke!!
I go see my oncologist on the 15th to get my chemo schedule, its time to put on the boxing gloves, thank you to all who have gone before me and sharing your message of hope and even your fears and dislike for this disease, all the info I can get helps so much!
Hugs,
Terri

This is great information. Thank you very much
I was told last month by my new oncologist my Vit D level was low. Didn't know of the corolation. I am taking 5,000 IU, now. I don't eat refined sugar or much fruit. I drink a lot of water and will start adding lemon.
I am 20 months since my last chemo. My LD levels were up and liver function levels were down last tumor check in Feb. I go again May 24th.

When you take Vitamin D3 you need to take K2 with it for balance in the body. Go to a health food store and ask someone there. I take Jarrows K7. It has K2 and other things in it.
Let me know when you go...keep me updated!!!
