My surgery update
Hi everyone!
I should write an update of my surgery. It went well, I had mastectomy with reconstruction with expander. Sentinel lymph node looked ok, so they didn't take out the other nodes. But of course I have to wait for my histologic report. I'll have an appointment with both surgeons tomorrow, but I believe the report won't be available yet. I am feeling well, a bit tired and find expander bearable. They already pumped 100 ml of fluid in it, so I don't look flat at all, which totally surprised me. All drains are out too. I've stayed a bit longer at the hospital because I was vomitting and the doctors didn't know whether it was from migraine (I had a big migraine attack on the morning of the surgery and was vomitting on the way to the surgery, it really sucked), from anesthesia or from painkillers I was getting. On day 5 I was finally feeling ok.
I can't help myself not to worry about the results and possible bad news. I'll update when something is new.
I was kinda away from computer and I'll catch up in the next day or two with news here. I hope you are all doing ok. I met a lot of women with the same diagnosis at the hospital and that made me not feeling so alone. I had you a lot in my thoughts, too.
Take care, Carmen

Hi Carmen
Hi Carmen,
I am so glad the surgery is over and you are feeling better. I was amazed also that I was not flat after surgery. I couldn't believe how much fluid they put in right away. Don't be worried when they add more, it does not hurt at all. It's kind of strange to watch, put you won't feel a thing. Just continue to heal now. Do your exercises and get some rest. So happy no node involvement and will pray your results continue to come back good. You are doing great!!
Hugs,
Ginny

Glad to hear you're OK Hope.
Glad to hear you're OK Carmen. Sounds like it's been rough but I can see you've taken it very well. My surgery didn't involve an expander like you got and there will be no reconstruction since, as a man, I don't really think I need it, but, I can surely identify with all the rest of it. Hope all the rest of your news is good.
God Bless You
Charlie

Hi Carmen, It sounds like we are going through the same thing at the same time. I also have the expanders and will get my first fill today. I am amazing my family as to how well I am doing, have to admit I am amazed myself. They did find Ca in 2 nodes so all were removed on my rt side. Glad to here you are doing well too, I think additude has alot to do with it. I don't have time to wollow in self pitty. Life is waiting! I guess I just wanted to let you know you have a sister that is currently going through the same thing as you are.... God Bless! Kathy
