Treatment update
Well, today was treatment #32 and tommorrow the radiation ends. The first three Chemos are also done. I get to wait about a month before the next round of adjuvent chemo starts depending on the healing of the throat and mouth. Mucositis grade 3 at this point but I'm still drinking water, Boost plus, Juven and milkshakes. Saw the ENT on Monday for a hearing test and he decided to scope me for the fun of it. No Primary Tumor in sight. He was very impressed and I was happy the treatment is working. I know it wasn't an official scan or anything but it's still good news. Hope everyone is coping and doing the best they can with the hand they were dealt. I think about the struggles we all have everyday! I enjoyed a quote I heard on the forum somewhere "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it" Charles Swindel.

That's T's quote, John....
his favorite, too!
Seems only a handful of us had the adjuvent chemo.....I kept telling myself that not having to go to rads along with the chemo is a better deal....and it was, tho the 5FU really lived up to it's name, at least with me. This next month will be a reprieve and a time to get some healing done and some rest in.

John,
Nice update, finishing rads gives me a reason to ring my bell for you tomorrow. It will be a happy sound. Good job on the drinking water, I still haven’t let up.
When I got cancer I was dealt a lousy hand. Today, I think it is a Full House.
100% in support of you,
Matt

The end of one line...
Hi John,
Congrats on reaching the end of rads! You're on the downhill side of treatment now. The report from your doctor couldn't be more encouraging. Hopefully the mucositus will calm down in the next two weeks. I was at grade 3 at the end of my treatment and it's improved in the last two weeks to the point of not needing a tissue every two minutes ~lol~
As P said, that quote was something I posted on the boards and is my favorite. Here's the actual quote in it's entirety (and btw, Charles Swindoll is an excellent author)."The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes”
Charles Swindoll
We've been dealt a hand that will be in constant flux for the rest of our lives. Being that we're generally creatures of habit, that constant flux can and is unnerving. In a situation here we hand over control to so many other people and circumstances, it's our attitude that enables us to gain some stability. Grab on with both hands and hang on! It's the end of one line and it's time to grab hold of the next one. Rest and heal while you have the time to do so. Keep up the good fight. Sounds like you have cancer on the run!
Positive thoughts and prayers"T"
