    Thank you Rachel..

    Rachel,

Thank you, it's been a very long sleepy week. I didn't realize how exhausted I would be after surgery and how 'out of it' my brain has been. Yesterday afternoon it was like the fog started to lift, followed by a day of doctors appts.

The surgery went well, over three hours long. And I was a bruised more inside than outside. That anesthesiologist must have thought my throat was a large size. I got home on Saturday afternoon. I took pain meds for 4 days.. and then we saw the doctor this morning.. the results were papillary carcinoma. The good news is the treatment is remove the thyroid! Done! (Thank god). Now we follow up with Ultrasounds to make sure it doesn't try to grow back I guess.. I haven't even visited Dr Google yet about it. I just know that the doctor said if he ever had to have cancer he wants this one... so that is a reassuring feeling.

Now I am trying to catch up and just logged on for the first time to CSN.. I haven't read a post since last thursday. But my heart and prayers have been with you all - just that my energy level is low.. but I am trying to kick myself in the tuckus and start moving again.

    Hugs, and thanks,

    Kari

That is exactly how I felt after my first surgery . This time I came out of it feeling like nothing had just happened ! I sure would like to know what made the difference ? Glad you are starting to feel better. I will have to research your results also because I have no idea what that means but what your Doctor said  sure was encouraging ! I know how relieved you must feel to have this behind you ! Wow , no treatments sounds wonderful ! Are you able to eat yet ? I hope you are up and going full speed soon.

    Eating :)

    Peggy,

I tried eating something with ground beef in it the first day home.. that was a mistake. All of sudden it got stuck, fortunately I could get it out - I have gone to the softer food bits for now, I am usually ok, but just being cautious. I think its just the swelling.. Last night I could not eat enough bread and butter.. it was a french loaf.. small pieces.. but it was itching the itch in my throat. Tonight I am craving ice cubes.. seems to stop the insessant coughing that is trying to itch the itch from the inside!

I have a small turkey neck which should be gone with in a week or so.. my sister called me a PEZ dispenser (she too had hers removed).. she's right!

    :)

    Thanks!

    Dan is great!

    Rachel,

Thank you so much for caring.. I kept thinking of stopping in, but didn't have the energy to boot my pc.. I' looked at the ipad once or twice but it was a fleeting thought.

Dan is great.. we saw his RO today and she said "see ya in 4 mos!" since the ENT will scope him in 2 months, she said we could cut back a bit! He was also a great caretaker.. I have been spoiled all week.

I'm sure your throat must be

I'm sure your throat must be Irritated and swollen and my Mother alwayes would tell me when I was a little girl and I complained about a sore itching  "that means it's getting well' ! So maybe the itching is a good thing ! I still cannot eat any kind of meat or bread , that's great that you could eat bread and butter . I'm glad that Dan is spoiling you . I bet you spoiled him when he was feeling bad! I don't know what we would do without our wonderful caregivers.

I hope you get a good nights sleep

    Goodnight, Peggy
