worried after doctor visit
I had my 3 month doctor visit today. I am now 18 months post chemo, and almost 2 years post surgery for stage 1A UPSC.
I was treated with 6 cycles of taxol/carboplatin, but no radiation due to the fact I had received prior radiation for vaginal cancer in 2007.
My doctor saw a small spot on the apex of my vagina (wasn't there 3 months ago) which concerned her and took a biopsy of it. She also said she could see blood vessels below the surface of the skin.
Of course this scares me to death. She said she was probably being overly cautious to biopsy it, but wanted to act on it now instead of having me come back in a month to see if there were any changes.
I guess my question is, has anyone had this happen to them and had it not be a recurrence? Or have you had this happen and it turned out to be a recurrence?
And, do you know if radiated skin can form blood vessels near the surface?
She will have the results of the biopsy in about a week........it's going to be a long week.

I really hate the waiting game. I had something similar, turned out to be nothing. I will be thinking of you...
Thanks for your response, Shell bug. It really does help to hear that your situation turned out to be a false alarm!
Darned cancer head stinks, and so does waiting for results.

....sometimes the anxiety of waiting is one of the worst parts. And somehow none of us ever get any better at doing it.
However, I like that your doctor said she is just being extra cautious by doing a biopsy. I'd keep playing that over and over until you hear for sure that all is fine.

Thank you ladies for your responses. Somehow it helps calm me to let my concerns out and hear from others who understand what it's like to go through what we've all gone through here.
Thankful for you and also grateful that I have a job that keeps me so insanely busy there's not much time to think about me. But here comes the weekend........:( I'll let you know what I find out when the doctor calls.

Wonderful news, if looking at side of no recurrence. On side affects from radiation, I can relate as I have some scar tissue that from time-to-time causes spotting. Nothing we can do, but keep on plugging along.
Happy you're happy!!
