I hate the Hubble telescope!

2 1/2 year scan passed without remarks = NED. My 2 lung nodules are now definitely classified as benign after no changes for almost 3 years. Thumbs up on that.

Thas all dandy and nice of course, what I really need to vent about is that I HATE THAT "#%¤¤%&"% CYSTOSCOPY!!!! What did I do to deserve having the Hubble telescope inserted and pushed forcefully through my private parts?!?!?! Sigh...

Anyway, just ranting. I dont expect any replies, but will just wish you all a sunny and hopefully NED-full and telescope-free spring...Smile

Ps. The nurse said that younger men often have more pain because theyre more "tight" down there. I took that as a compliment (she was young and quite pretty) given the fact that she said it to a grumpy looking 45-year old, lying stretched out with his pants off.

    Worse than mine

    You win the prize for today.  As the nurse pulled on my thumb and I pulled the other way, the ortho inserted a needle into my wrist.  Didn't hurt until he started pushing cortisone into a space too small for all the fluid.  I only said s*** once.  Arthritis in a joint and favoring it has made more of the ligaments and tendons sore.  We'll see if this helps.

    Sorry for the indignaties.

    Not fun. I think I was more scared of the scope than the surgery 2 days later. I wonder how discreet the nurses are when they discuss this procedure on their night out.

    Pretty un-discrete I suspect...

    I could imagine its on the top 5 conversation topics amongst urology nurses when they go for a night out...

    I just simply hate it to be honest. But got to deal with it as Im going to have it every year for the rest of my life...

    Nurses' stories

    Do they not throw ice around the relevant parts?(did with me).

    You have to remember it's not the size of the conversations that matters it's the quality Laughing

    I know the answer and it is indeed dreadful :-/

    Once a year until Im done with the routine CT scans for RCC recurrence. After that, every second year for the rest of my life...

    Even though that secondary tumor in my kidney was benign (non-invasive papilloma), it has a relatively high risk of spreading to the bladder, thus the never ending check-ups...

    Ouch.

    I have my first CYSTOSCOPY on May17.  Were you able to drive? How long was the procedure? Did they use ice or other numbing agent? Besides the ouch, anything to expect?

    At my age it becomes less and less relevant every day Cry .  <SIGH>  Now to put it through THAT?  Sheesh!

    Cystoscopy details

    Hi Bubbs,

    No ice but a numbing agent applied 10 minutes before (procedures probably vary).

    The examination itself takes 5-10 minutes.

    No problems driving at all. The side-effect is pain when urinating the first 4-5 times after the examination. For me that pain can be quite agonizing, but thats probably very individual.

    As for the ouch, I my urologist once told me its less painfull for women because they have a much shorter "tube" than men. One important tip to avoid pain though: When the scope is inserted...pee. Pee like your life depended on it. It makes it a lot less painfull to have the scope pass if you "open" up as when urinating.

    I hate the Hubble Telescope

    I had this done and was terrifiedd of it.  it was no big deal at all.  I couldn't believe I got myself so upset over something not that bad.  Good Luck!

    I was 15!

    When I had my first one.  I'm 66 now and after a lifetime of Kidney stones, I've lost count.  I STILL can't get blase' about them!  They hurt dammit! Yell!

    Ah yes,  the stent for the kidney stone went in while I was blissfully asleep.  The removal of said stent, not quite so blissful.  It was the sudden sharp unexpected stabs of pain that was worse than the constant ache of the kidney stone.  I actually felt sorry for the attractive young lady who had to prep me and assist the doc.  You'd think she would have nightmares after the ordeal.  I kept thinking she probably considered becoming a nun.
