    getting things done

    Kari,

Of course you are still here, where else would you be?

Now this kitchen, what are you doing, is it a full gut or just a sprucing up?

Sounds like you have plenty of “irons in the fire”, good luck with each of them.

    Full Gut

    Matt,

It's a full gut. We bought our house 3 years ago, and the kitchen was cheap construction circa 1980's.. and breaking down. So when we finally got my bachelorette townshouse sold, we decided the money would look good in the kitchen.. we took up the tile (cement and chicken wire) and put down a maple floor.. the sheetrock, windows, the electric.. it got bigger than originally planned fast. Fortunately we waited til that townhouse closed! And when we got home from treatment, I couldn't think of any reason not to do it... it kind of worked out great.. since Dan never knew what he wanted to eat until it was time to eat - why not take out? But it's been a long 2 months. Only 3 cabinets came in the wrong size, then the replacements were lost in the store.. fortunately once everything gets put through the dishwasher in 2 weeks and put away - we won't remember the inconvienences!

Good news is the counter top will be here with in 8 working days, the back splash a week later.. then cleanups with electric and plumbing tucked in too.. almost there!

So when I recover, timing will be perfect to move and start cooking again!

    Joe,

Thank you very much.. starting to get a wee bit nervous here and there.. but just keep saying... it's better than the alternative.. :)

    Debbie,

This recovery feels like the first time I will have time to really sit down in a year.. A year ago Dan and I started redoing rooms in the house, working our jobs and then working another shift painting, etc.. getting ready for my son's wedding and the family that would be coming in from out of state and staying.. the day they started to arrive we got his diagnosis, a wedding 11 days later, his moms huge bday party here a week after that and surgery/treatments, and now my surgery - it's enjoy the summer from here.. and try not to make plans!

    Enjoying life..

    Debbie,

That's the plan -- to spend a few months getting back to what ever normal should be.. a few hours in the sun and gardening, and simple fun is very much a cherished idea!
