Scrap the old and start the new....
Ok, all my final biopsy reports are back. My oncologist ordered the Caris Next Generation Sequencing report--very cool. It tells you exactly what drugs should be effective and what drugs should not. It also identified two mutations PIK3CA and P53.
I am getting a port, hopefully next week. Then starting on Pertuzumab, Trastuzumab and Doxetacel. Not what I wanted to hear, but, at least, my oncologist feels this course should be very effective.
Doris, I will be losing my hair too. We just have to keep doing things together. Katherine is going to go with me next week to check out a wig for the wedding, but I just plan on scarves most of the time.
Thank you all for all of your support!. I love you all!!!

you my beloved Friend. I hope and pray that this new chemo combo will provide you with relief from the 'dark one' - also know as the beast.
I cried when I read that you will be losing your hair - however, having been in that situation a few years ago, I realized my bald head will be our badge of Honor, Courage, and HOPE.
Continued prayers, and strength.
Gentle hugs, and magic sprinkles of health

Linda, I have been thinking of you and praying that you are ok?! Chemo sucks but it is worth it if it works.
I was going to cut my hair short today but I decided to wait one more week. Silly isn't it? But my older sister is coming in for the New Orleans Jazz Fest and I am planning on a blow out fun week before (sigh) I have to get down to business. We are heading to Chef John Folse's Restaurant August on Tuesday, Jazz Fest Friday, Antique Fair on Saturday and so on. A little monkey business before I get down to chemo business...Lol.

Hugs,CarolCarol, The test really is so interesting and, I hope, the way to go. It lists agents associated with potential benefits for your tumor. For me the list is somewhat short. On NCCN compendium: trastuzumab, lapatinib, pertuzumab, doxorubicin, epirubicin, and everolimus. Off NCCN compendium: irinotecan, temsirolimus. It is so fascinating--light years away from my 1987 biopsy report .
My oncologist felt the best way for me to go was the 3 drugs I mentioned discussed in the NEJM article: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1113216.
Carol, I will be getting steroids too and I am not looking forward to it. Well, maybe I can clean house (doubtful) if I get really hyped. I am sorry that you are having a rough time and am sending lots of hugs and prayers your way!

So Glad I finally Found Your Post!
Dear CC,
I have been waiting for your posting all day. Don't know if it is the time difference but finally found it. I am glad that they have a whole new regime for you and hoping with all my heart it works. I only know a few of the drugs and they sound good. I'm very impress with your type of testing your oncologist did for you.
One gets use to wearing scarves, turban and etc. I don't have any wedding to attend so I am waiting a bit on the wig. I did buy a bangs type wig to go with the hats and one that just covers the bottom part that I can wear under hats, I don't like them. I end up using the turbans without hair most of the time.
We will do ok, I know it.
Best to you my friend,
Doris

CC,
I like the fact that your priorities are right on, monkey business before chemo business. Sounds like a terrific weekend. You do live in an exciting area. My area on become exciting after Memorial Day when the saying is the summer people and tourist come with the roses and leave by first frost. Actually they have extended to Columbus Day now. Then we do have some action and activities. We are still cleaning out winter with all the sand it dumps and etc...
Have fun,
Doris

Chemo isn't a walk through the park, but I will pray the chemo treatment works its magic. Wishing you Strength and Peace of mind and heart as you continue to move forward. Also, so happy to hear you have a joyous event, a wedding, to look forward to! Yeah!

My dear friend,
Your post is a fresh air, the way how you have been embrasing your new challenge. I am glad that both you and your oncologist are taking a very agressive approach against this sneaky b*tch. Well it mutated, we now have even more means for stopping it. I had Docetaxel (as generic or under the trade name Taxotere) 4 years ago, was not my favorite drug, rather manageble. we will be going through treatment with you and here for you.
Hugs
