I HAVE A PLAN B
I spoke with my Nurse Coordinator earlier today, and it looks like I will have to come off the clinical trial I have been on since early September due to two of my lymph nodes in my Mediastynum have grown greater then 20%. I do not have any new growth, which I guess is good, but hearing that my 24 plus week of good luck has hit the wall.
We will be discussing two options for my next round of treatment. The first is a clinical trial which involves the drug I am currently on, Erbitux, and it would be combined with a pill. The second choice would be to start on an infusion of Taxol every 3 weeks.
If there is anyone out there who has used Taxol for METS to the Lungs and or Mediastynal Nodes, please let me know how you did and or are doing.
I guess what frustrates me the most is when I push my Onco for targeted radiation or surgical removal of my Mediastynal Nodes, he only says that is not an option. Why not when I had 34 cancerous nodes removed from my neck??
Best
Mike

I'm happy that you know there
is a plan B!! Rick (Tobegolden) is getting Taxol for mets, plus the Erbitux, so he'll be able to chime in here. I think his schedule is different....seems to me he said two weeks on, then a week off.
I wonder if surgeons elsewhere feel the same as your guy does? That might be worth checking into.
As it is right now....YEEAAAHHH!! Blan B....bring it on!

Plan B
Good. I was told flat out before last treatment that when it pops up again there will be nothing that can be done. Of course if and when I will look into doing something to fight. Thank you for sharing. I don't have any helpful info, my cancer so far has stayed in my head.

Happy to hear there is A plan B. Jim was offered just erbitox for his met to lungs which he has turned down. Praying for a good outcome.

I saw an article on the oralcancerfoundation.org about a new treament (drug) that they use to prevent HPV + cancer cells from growing ....thus dying....I'm no doctor so some of the article was over my head ....but maybe there is a trial available in that drug to you? Obviously to come to the conclusions they did I would assume they use(d) it on folks already?
I posted it on my facebook as well if you don't find it on OCF ...

Onto the next step....
Onto the next step....deciding which option.
I'm with Phrannie that it may not be a bad idea to have this run by another doctor or facility.
Maybe you could pm Rick? It wouldn't hurt to get his experience. I know he's on here off and on.
Your pic shows us you're ready for a fight......Get it on!

You look like the picture of health in the new photo. Obviously, when you set your mind to something (like exercise) you get the job done. I have no doubt that you are going to fight this fight and beat the beast.
