a little pick me up!!

hi everyone,  i am just feeling a little all over the place at the moment and i just wanted to touch base with all of you brilliant people!!  i was feeling ok well as ok as you can feel after going through what most of us have gone through.

i went to see my doc the other day just to ask a couple of questions and i suppose he kinda upset me a bit.  i told him about me possibly changing my job to go back as cabin crew and he said there was no medical reason why i couldn't do it but then he said that if anything was to show up on my scan was i in a position to take time off for treatment!!  god i was so positive up to that and now i feel like he slapped me in the face!!

i know i am probably being over sensitive but i have been feeling very teary for the last couple of days after feeling so great for weeks.  i am now doubting lots of things and i feel that i would not be able to go back full time in case something did happen.  does everyone feel like this?  i know its going to be ups and downs but i wasn't expecting to feel like this after my visit.  i suppose he has made me feel that i should expect something even though he said im not saying it will but just in case!!

anyway thanks for listening again.

    Go for it

    Elms,

Based upon your pathology you are at very low risk for recurrance. Therefore until something happens to worry about, don't worry.

Sometimes doctors mean well, but they screw it all up when they express themselves.

    Hi Eims

    Hi Eims,

I am sorry to hear about your experience with your GP, he appeared to be expressing an after thought without attaching much thought to it. Many doctors lack sensitivity, you would think it would come as part of the care package, sadly it is not always the case.

Do you have to make such a major decision about your job right now. All our best decisions are made when we have a clear head. Do you feel you are in such a place, I know I could not make such decisions at the moment.

You are probably tearful because you are suffering post traumatic shock, these emotions will catch up with you from time to time when you least expect it. It is still early days, you have stayed strong but like the rest of us you have a few chinks in your armour.

Often we use key words when communicating without being fully aware of it. You mentioned ' sacrificing too much ', maybe you should pay close attention to that comment. When people have had cancer and recovered, you will often hear that it was a life changing time in their lives, it was a time they took stock and realized what was truly important to them. I know what people mean by that but at this moment we are still healing.

Don't put any more pressure on yourself at the moment, you have enough to cope with.

djinnie, thank you so much for replying to me....your comments made me cry but in a good way!! i loved your expression about the chinks in your armour...that is sooooo true for all of us on here. i have spoken to a few of my current work colleagues and they are really genuine people and when i was going through all the hassle they were great to me.  i work for 999 at the moment and i suppose i feel like i am doing something worthwhile.  i said to my hubbie everything happens for a reason and i do think i am a lucky lady to have it.

    tears and discouragement

Comes with the territory. And time does help. Does Iceman or Gary seem bummed? I think not. Yet they are here always offering encouragement. They could be doing something else. The emotions are forever. Getting them in control takes some work. Those few who never have a health issue are rare. I have a friend who does nothing to take care of himself. Takes living for granted. But we are not so lucky. We are working on doing well. Takes effort. Comes with committment and emotions. Not getting our doctors to say this may have challenges would be a disservice. Our character is stronger. So we share on this forum. We all know the value of our lives. Always scarey because we are aware.

    Hi Eims

    Hi Eims,

I hope you are feeling better, when do you go for your abdominal test?

I have not had my follow up appointment yet, so I have no clue what the procedure is from here. I am healing well by the looks of things, albeit a little oddly shaped something akin to a botched liposuction job. I am still having some lung and back issues, but it is not quite two weeks yet.

Getting rid of the surgical stockings in another eight days, yea!.... I will be so, so glad to see them go, they are not a good look.

My daughter is a fitness instructor, she works at Equinox in NY. She and her friends have compiled a fitness regime for me to slowly get back on my feet. We will see how that goes. I like to swim and love gardening they are the two things I have relied on to keep me active. I am just looking forward to being able to do a little more around the house at the moment.

Looking at your picture you look as if you have young ones to keep you active.

    All the best

    Hi Eims

    Hi Eims,

I am glad you have reached a decision. You sound like you have your hands full with three little ones, and you have their whole future to look forward to. I miss my daughter she left home when she was eighteen, she could not settle in France. She went back to the UK but did not like it there so she is now back in the US. All I can say is thank goodness for Skype.

    All the best

    Hi Eims

    Hi Eims,

I am in Morbihan, the most central point of Brittany. What was Napolianville, it is very pretty, it is called Pontivy now. We moved here because it has a micro climate, having been in Texas for so many years we wanted to live somewhere that did not suffer from very cold winters. I think Tolkein used a lot of ideas from this area in his stories. We live close to Rohan and believe me most people here a the size of hobbits. An awful lot of the older generation are well under 5ft, it makes my husband and I look like giants.

Surprisingly there are still many people who live in homes with dirt floors. The use of dry straw toilets is still prevalent in the older properties. The other quaint tradition is that you can help yourself to the produce grown in the communes fields. It is deemed to be collectively owned.

I love it here, you can go out without locking your doors. There is very little crime, the most major we have had since we have been here is a garden parisole went missing.

As you say the wine is good, so is the cheese and we enjoy the crepes.

The health care is fantastic, there are no waiting lists. You automatically have access to all of the top doctors. Basically your medical conditions are reviewed by a team from a specialist unit, who decide what is the best treatment they can offer you, this is overseen by the medical board to make sure you are getting the best of care. There is a lot of protection in the system.

My nurse finishes her visits tomorrow, no more injections after that, thank goodness. The health service also offers assistance with house work, shopping and walking the dog. I did not request it because I have my husband here, but if they had offered someone to do the cooking I think I would have jumped at it. I think my husband is on a major learning curve with that one.

    All the best

now all i am thinking of is wine, cheese and crepes!!!

    Large glass of plonk

    Hi Eims,

I must admit I have missed being able to have a very large glass of plonk over the past few weeks, just to take the edge off. Somehow French bread and cheese does not taste quite the same without one or two glasses of wine. Still on the upside it makes for a cheaper lunch.

My husband has very kindly made fish cakes (for the first time in his life)for our dinner tonight. The recipe called for garlic, judging by the smell that is wafting into my front room I think he has put the whole thing in and not the one clove. That should repel all visitors for the next week or so.

    Wrong dog

    Hi Eims,

My little yorkie dog arrived back home today, he has been staying at a friends kennels for a few weeks until I felt better. My friends walk the dogs at least four times a day through the fields. I didn't recognize him when he came home he is half the size he was when I left him. He has lost so much weight, he is full of beans running around the house and wanting to be chased.

I am seriously thinking of booking myself in there for a couple of weeks once I am back on my feet.

    Hi Eims

    Hi Eims,

I have to tell you that the fish cakes were not too bad. It was a Jamie Oliver recipe, fish, spuds, parsley, cheese and of course garlic. Well you could not taste the fish or cheese but the garlic held its own, so much so.....the next morning I was frightened to light the gas and the budgie was laying on the floor of it's cage.

Sherpherds Pie tonight, let's see how that works out, I have hidden the garlic just to play it safe.

    Hi Texas

    Hi Texas,

Thank you, no pressure there then, lol...

I should not take the mickey out of my husband but he makes me laugh every day.

He is trying to take good care of me but when it comes to doing anything like cooking and cleaning he is a fish out of water. He loves working outside so this is unknown territory for him. He is glad to be providing the entertainment factor though.

A question for you if you don't mind me asking why Texas, do you hail from there?

    Hi

    Hi There,

The Shepherds Pie was was almost edible, left a note to chef " would have been better without the crook ", sadly he is losing his sense of humour. We are having a ham salad tonight.

This is a whole new territory for my husband. He is an intelligent man but when it comes to doing chores around the house he gets this glazed expression on his face. He suddenly becomes totally incompetent. On the plus side of this experience I  will have a husband who is almost house trained, I have always wanted one of those. Got to love him though...
