Update first IDC now SCC
I saw my new doc at UIC today, I go for a CT scan on Tuesday then I see her again and a rad onco on March 16. She's hoping to be able to try just radiation treatment due to the fact that surgery can be disfiguring....I will find out on the 16th if it will just be radiation or surgery and radiation. I really like my new Dr. she wants to try and do everything to kill the cancer and keep my face as normal as possible. I am not going to get my hopes up about no surgery but at least its a possiblity:)
She took pictures of my chin and lip, she's at the top of her field and has never seen another case like mine. They are thinking that the IDC and treatment has something to do with it. She told me that she will research it till she can show me I am not alone:)
Thanks everyone for all your support, it means so very much to me. I am hoping to be able to start tamoxifen as well, I don't want IDC to come back because treatment for my breast cancer was put on hold because of this new cancer. I so hate cancer!

It means a lot to like your doctor Patti, and, I am so glad you like yours. It does sound like she is on top of this and I am thankful for that.
She thinks your bc had something to do with this? Did she say exactly?
I hope the rads will kill this so you won't need surgery Patti.
I am with you..I hate cancer too! The gift that keeps on giving
Thanks for the update! I was hoping you would come on tonight to fill us in.
We'll be with you on the 16th!
Hugs, Lex

Thank you Lex:) They are just not sure if there is a connection or not...they are leaning towards my lowered immune system enabling it to spread so fast. They looked over my post bilateral mastectomy PT/CAT scan from last Sept which they agree was clear. I just hope this next scan is clear.

Hi Patti
Hi Patti,
I will have my fingers, toes and everything else possible crossed that you will only need the radiation. I am so happy that you found a great doctor who is willing to do some investigating as well. Feeling confident in your doctor, as you already know, is so important. Please keep us updated with your progress and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I think one cancer at a time is plenty to deal with, I feel so bad that you have to deal with two.
Many, many hugs and positive thoughts coming your way,
Ginny

I pray that your next scan will be clear too. It seems strange to say that I hope that you only have to do radiation, but, that is what I am hoping for. I love my doctors too and am glad to know that you like yours.

Thanks Ginny and Debby:) I know...saying I hope you have to have radiation is kind of wierd lol I thought the same thing when I said that to my kids....Thanks for your support, as we all know, having people throwing good vibes your way does wonders for you!
I do really like her, trust her which is so important. I meet my rad onco on the 16th, I hope I feel the same about him:) I have been pretty lucky so far with my doctors, with the exception of my first dermatologist who had me putting steriod cream on cancer....thank goodness I got a second opinion and stopped using the cream way before that!

Yea, we are a strange bunch hoping for someone to have to have rads. But, that is what I am hoping for too. I bet you will like your rads onco too. From my experience, it seems anyone and everyone in the cancer field are angels! Super nice caring people!
Thanks for updating us! You are a member of the pinkies now and we are always here for each other!

Thanks Ladies:) Sorry about not posting sooner, my head has been spinning! I went for my neck CT scan on Tuesday, my doc's NP called me Tuesday night and said that my case was discussed at their weekly cancer patient group meeting, and they wanted to add a med onco to my team. I asked why?...She then said that my nodes looked good on my neck CT however, it picked up the top part of my lungs and there are some nodules on my lungs.
So now I am going back Sunday morning for a CT of my chest. I have talked to the NP everyday this week, they are in rush mode to get every bit of my medical history since my diagnosis of bilateral IDC on 8/8/12. Tuesday I have a med onco appt at 9am, my surgeon at 12pm and my rad onco at 2pm, it's gonna be a long day. Then I was told I was put on my surgeons surgery schedule for Wed, just incase they wanted to move fast. Ugh....
My med onco that treated me for my IDC called me yesterday and told me the university hospital called and she sent them everything, and just to see how I was doing. Which I thought was very nice of her. She told me not to worry about changing to a different team, that with my recent head and neck cancer diagnosis along with just finishing chemo for the IDC almost four months ago, that I was where I needed to be going for the very best care. I told her about the noduels on my lung and she reminded me that, that doesn't always mean cancer:) I was tempted to ask her to have a look at my chest xrays and CT/PET scan from last sept, I remember hearing "they are fine" back then (all of which was sent to my new team) but I will just wait til Tuesday for anymore answers.
So that's where I am at for now. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, well wishes and encouraging words:)
Hugs to all

Hi Patti,
it sounds like you have a great team in place to take care of whatever is going on. I am so sorry your life is in turmoil right now, but I really am glad that they are moving fast. I will keep my fingers crossed and say my prayers that those lung nodules are nothing to worry about. I am so sorry you are going through this nightmare.
Many, many, hugs coming your way!

I am hoping andHi Patti,
I am hoping and praying for you, please keep us posted on the results from the new scan. I agree that nodules on the lung do not always mean cancer. My wife had one before and after her chemo. Her initial Onc was not worried about it and then her surgical Onc had a MRI done just before surgery and stated that she wasn't worried about it. I had a nodule on my lung five years ago,and still do from the best of my knowledge. It was found during a CT scan I had of my chest when I was injured at work. Every year after that I had a chest X-ray and it was still there, unchanged. God Bless.
